There's a woman named Erin, 29 years old, who has two neurological disorders requiring 2-4 surgical procedures to cure. She's unemployed, uninsured, and isn't covered by Medicaid, so she can't pay for them herself.

But there is a way you can help! By going to her website (http://projecterin.com/index.html) and downloading a safe, small text file from megauploads.com every day, you can help her win $10,000 and pay for her surgeries.

So help out a woman in need - just point and click!

Go to her website, then look down and to your left. The green sidebar turns blue, and it says, in big white letters: "Download the file here," followed by three links - a primary one, plus two mirrors.

Sweet, I was going to make a thread about this, but kinda gave up hope. :(

I'm glad the word is spreading though. *goes to click*

That is a rather nifty way of earning money for something like that...
Too little time used to even care if it really is a scam or not. At least someone who tried is getting it.

They only problem is that she is way off her goal. 5 million downloads? The NaNoWriMo site got under 140,000 hits on Nov first, and they are streaming a lot more interest. :smallfrown:

I think she would of gotten a lot more interest if she appealed to the internet's general interests. Humanity ain't really the top seller.

"Your download manager may be configured incorrectly - please check your settings."

That's what I get when I try to download from any of the links (using firefox). Anyone know how to fix that?

I get the same. I wonder if the day has already passed though.

I sent a mail to Erin and now it's fixed, you can DL the file.

I'm sceptical about the 5 mio DLs = 10k$... especially as it's hotlinked and thus not driving any traffic to their site. But hey, if it works, it would be great for her.

It's a good cause, I'm going to put it in my Daily webpage folder.
