Hey guys,

I'm prepping a location for my future campaign, I have some ideas, but experts on Shadowfell might be able to help me. So I decided to ask here. Here is what I have so far:

A couple of millennia ago, at the edge of the forest in Faerun, an Elven king traveled with his daughter, an elven princess, and an entourage of a small elven army. Somehow, the princess got infatuated with a human, which angered the Elven king immensely. Details are unknown, but at a certain point, the princess fled the elven camp and was chased by the King and his underlings. At the edge of the forest, at a certain pond with a waterfall, the princess died. Circumstances of her death are unknown, but the immense grief and rage of the Elven king are.

Being a powerful individual, elven king, struck with grief, has cursed the place and his retinue, as well as all humans, which he blamed for the death of his daughter. At the well, he died too, probably, at his own hand. All this caused the place to go sour. Negative energies have coalesced in place and darkness infused it. Soon, every night, the flight of the princess was recreated with her father (https://i.pinimg.com/originals/ea/67/c7/ea67c743eb922d3d60bc1e3b89ccf052.png) and his warriors chasing her. In fact, the location was so permeated by negative energies, certain creatures from Shadowfell took notice. These were two hags, which caused Shadowfell to consume this small part of Faerun and fully integrate it into their Realm of Dread.

Malign nature of the place was a source of great power for the sisters and they grew very powerful (https://i.redd.it/0fqxujty1kq31.jpg), due to this. They were "normal" hags no more. In Shadowfell, the forest turned into a Swamp, giving birth to all sorts of unholy beings and phenomenons, becoming a dangerous place and a lure for all, even some of those, from Material plane, who were overwhelmed with sadness.

Among others, these effects caused a massive population of Boggles (https://i.pinimg.com/736x/29/9f/89/299f8987cad675c3f8f14fbb6d6306e9.jpg) to spawn in the swamp. These boggles would again thrive on sadness and depression (same as both hags) and would hunt far and wide for appropriate individuals to bring them to Sisters.

Eventually, even an odd Shadow dragon (https://i.redd.it/49crm3k6btx41.jpg) took residence nearby, enjoying the energies of broken and despaired souls.

Regional Effects

The region is warped by the Sister’s magic, which creates the following effects:

The land within 24 miles of the lair takes twice as long as normal to traverse, since the plants grow thick and twisted, and the swamps are thick with reeking mud. There are massive amounts of dead trees scattered in the swamp, sometimes creating small hills of rotten, sharp wood.

Water sources within 24 mile radius of the lair are supernaturally fouled. Anyone who drinks such water regurgitate it within minutes.
Fog lightly obscures the land within 24 miles of the lair, while within 6 miles of the lair, it is heavily obscured. Creatures, spending a month in the swamp, ignore both effects.
Every non-evil creature, spending a week in the swamp, must make a Saving Throw (DC 15+1 per week) and upon failure, having its alignment shifted one level toward Evil.

This is what I have so far. I'd like to flesh it out further, lore-wise and mechanically. I'd really appreciate any ideas, regarding this region.

thanks
