Elemental Galleon type ship = downsides

So my group is starting to research building an elemental controlled/powered galleon. Basing alot of assumptions on the Pathfinder style ships.

What are some of the downsides/ ways to disrupt the elemental control etc?

the spell Control Elemental is a 6th level wizard spell with explicit permission to control a bound elemental. Rebuke/command of your elemental's type should work, as would many charm based spells. Elemental Ward would stop your elemental vessel in its tracks. Essentially anyone can target the elemental with magic effects by targeting the elemental's crystal.

On the plus side, if it tips over you can wear it on your head because it's now cap sized.
