So i'm about to start a CandleKeep game and have decided on a tortle sporedruid. What should i name him? I tend towards whimsicle names or names that are puns.

If you like stupid names that get boring really fast, Cover.

That said. Pretty much no-one gets a name after they are old enough to start working. Asking "what should I name a tortle sporedruid" is like asking "what should I name Dutch PE teacher". What would tortle parents name their tortle child, is the question to ask.

There are things called nicknames that plenty of people go by. Billy the Kid was not given that name by his parents.

Sure. A complete non sequitur but sure.

That feels a little disingenuous. He obviously means that he wants a punny name for his character and that it can easily be a nickname.

On that note I've always liked Sheldon for a turtle character. Also naming them after renaissance painters (AKA the ninja turtles). But if you want a name based on the fungus angle instead maybe trying to incorporate a poisonous mushroom like deathcap or amanita. Deathshell instead of deathcap?

Well for a lizard spore druid Agator sportagus jumps to mind so let's see what I can come up with for a tortle.

Batagur snapdragon

Fërn

Seum saw back

Broken beak the blight bringer

Zygote

Torn tooth

Thank you.

Well, I did give a punny name straight of the bat and the op didn't mention anything about nicknames.

All tortles should have name inspired by classic artists, inventors or philosophers

Yorteltori

A fusion of Yurtle the Turtle (but Yortle since he's a tortle)
and yakitori (a kind of mushroom I ate in Japan that I liked)

Or Toryortel to pack it in a bit more tightly

@Gryndle:
OK, Raphaeshell :smallyuk:

Riffing on the deathcap suggestion above,, Dethkappa. Deathcap mushroom reference, kappa turtle reference, plus altered spelling of Death so it's not 100% on the nose. If 'deth' is still too on the nose, maybe Inkappa (ink cap), Milkappa (milkcap) or Brikappa (brick cap).

Ok, I think it's decided.
Low levels = sportle
Mid levels = sporetortle
High levels = basidioise

Thanks all. I decide to go with the Teenage Magic Ninja Tortle idea. Because druid, i wanted to use a staff or club which locked me at Michelangelo or Donatello. I decided on Donashello.

Portoshello

This may not be the OP's favorite, but this wins the Internet today.

I used Brunelleschi for my Tortle Ninja. There are a lot of untapped artists.
