What if Kraagor wasn't killed, but trapped within the crystals that make up the gate, and the Scribblers argument wasn't about his death, but whether they should break the gate to free Kraagor? Girard would have been all for freeing a comrade, Dorukan and Lirian would've been more skeptical about the destruction and reconstruction of a gate, Soon would've imposed his morality on the situation and said the gate should remain closed, and Kraagors sacrifice honoured.
