So we decided to go for the authentic D&D experience and found some steam tunnels under the university in out area, made some awesome costumes (my girlfriend is a theatre major) and started playing.

Our GM was really into it and we have mostly been fighting some homebrew monsters like a skeleton from the med department and some random mouse that ran away.

He surprised us as the big bad, and I went first and got a critical for 20 damage! So I hit him really, really hard. I think I did too much damage because he is having trouble speaking.

His notes say he should be able to take 20 more points, but we are all kinda worried.

What do you guys do in a situation like this?
Did we get something wrong in the rules?

We are using 1st edition Mazes and Monsters, w/ the Dark Dungeons supplement by Jack Chic if that helps.

Also, happy April Fools Day everyone.

Mazes & Monsters is a far-out game. Swords, poison, spells, battles, maiming, killing...
