So... Can a Warlock with the Jump or False Life invocation cast these spells while touching a Ring of Spell Storing and charge the ring and practically keep it eternally topped up?

Hmm, the item makes a couple references to a spell slot. This could be interpreted as the item requiring the use of a spell slot.

It depends on the invocation.

ELDRITCH SIGHT
You can cast detect magic at will, without expending a spell slot.

You can cast detect magic at will without using a spell slot. You still need to use all the V,S,M components but you could cast it on a ring of spell storing.

However,

"FIENDISH VIGOR
You can cast false life on yourself at will as a 1st-level spell, without expending a spell slot or material components."

You can cast false life at 1st level without using a spell slot or material components but you can only cast it on yourself. The ring is not a valid target for the spell.

"OTHERWORLDLY LEAP
Prerequisite: 9th level
You can cast jump on yourself at will, without expending a spell slot or material components."

Otherworldly Leap also specifies that you can only cast it on yourself.

On the other hand the text for a ring of spell storing simply says.

"Any creature can cast a spell of 1st through 5th level into the ring by touching the ring as the spell is cast."

I believe you can generally cast self-only targetted spells into a ring of spell storing. They would simply target the wearer when cast. The only question is whether the invocation text specifying that the invocations can only be used to cast the spell on the warlock would prevent them from being stored in the ring.

Given the wording on the ring, I would tend to think not - that the invocations could be used to recharge the ring - but in the end it will be a DM call.
