Recently in my Sunday night game the party came
up against a spell turret attached to a large steel statue. The turret stats in Dmg2 have hardness, AC and HP but nothing else.

So here’s what happened.

The Bard in the party thought it would be a good idea to cast disintegrate against this trap. Disintegrate affects creatures and objects (destroying 10 cubic feet of material). How would you have ruled this chain of events? Assuming he hits with the touch attack, would a saving throw be required? What saves would a spell turret attached to a steel statue use? Would it destroy the trap no save or deal a percentage of health?

Magic items have saves equal to half their caster level +2, so it would get a fort save with that, and the spell outlines "A creature or object that makes a successful Fortitude save is partially affected, taking only 5d6 points of damage." So if it made it's save, it would take 5d6 damage, if it failed its save, it would just be annihilated.
