So for reference here is the wording of Limited Wish:

You entreat your patron to grant you a small wish.
As an action, you can speak your desire to your Genie's Vessel, requesting the effect of one spell that is 6th level or lower and has a casting time of 1 action.
The spell can be from any class's spell list, and you
don't need to meet the requirements in that spell,
including costly components; the spell simply takes
effect as part of this action.

Note, it explicitly says that spell components are not required, you’re just whispering to your lamp.

Counterspell has this requirement:

1 reaction, which you take when you see a creature within 60 feet of you casting a spell

But no one is going to see you casting a spell because as per the description of Limited Wish there is no “spell casting”,

the spell simply takes effect as part of this action

Hmm that does make the already great Limited Wish even better.

You're indeed not casting the spell. It's a magical ability that duplicates a spell, but it cannot be counterspelled. Cannot be used to duplicate the effects of an upcast spell either, by the same wording.

On the other hand, it could be stopped with a silence spell, since you wouldn't be able to speak into it.

Typical, it’s like being required to fax the head office.
