PbP Game for HimmelTodd online (Suel Empire Edition)

When Veznijatsu asks about Tsuto's journal I let him see it.

I wouldn't expect to pick up Chess any quicker than that (i'll find a few other people who know how to play and play a little with them as well, which should also increase my ability to learn startegy and such.) (BTW when you said roll 2 INT and WIS checks at +2 , was the +2 for my stat bonus or for something else - I only added it for stat bonus.)

When Ilsoari, comes over and offers his hand, I shake his hand "Good to meet you Ilsoari. I didn't realize that Beachpoint had a sage in it. I would have been sure to stop by."

(given what you typed Vez as saying to Ilsoari, am I correct in that he connected the name WOrserit to the Sublime Way? Or was that a typo?)

Ilsoari harrumphs again, "No need for pleasentries boy, I'm no sage. Just another retired adventurer who runs a little school. I know what I know, no amount of books is gonna teach me more. Too old for that nonsense."

Veznijatsu looks over at Ilsoari and wags a finger at him, "Now oldtimer their is no need to be so rough with our new friend here, the young rarely have time for us as it is. Be nice." Veznijatsu looks over the book, and laughs at some of the illustrations. He shows Ilsoari the one when Tsuto attempted to draw a Succubus, Ilsoari's eyes glaze over a moment and then he mutters, "Not even close to accurate. He has never seen a Succubus that's for sure, they got tails ya know."

(You can role Sense-Motive if you want) I'll show you how to roll offline.

"Not to worry Ilsoari, many people don't know much about the Sublime Way. But can I assume that you've heard of Worserit before?"

If there isn't another chair immediately around, I stand and offer my chair to him. Then go and get another (if there is one.)

Ilsoari sits down gingerly on the chair, "I can see you still haven't made these damn blocks of wood any more comfortable, you think you were poor Vez." A few moments later as an afterthought as Veznijatsu looks at him cross, "Oh thanks kid, difference is such a rare trait among the Sueloise."

Veznijatsu casually knocks down all the chess pieces and starts a new game while Ilsoari continues. He looks up at you, "Yes, I have heard of her and her way. She isn't the first to practice that art, and she won't be the last. From what I know she is one of three who were taught the art by an ancient practicioner going back to the original Suel Empire in Oerth. Can't say as I know anything about the other two, but the Cleaver is the most famous. Any historian with half a wit could tell you the same. Hers is not a name you should toss around so lightly, people will think you a liar or a fool. Or worse yet they may think it's true."

Veznijatsu puts the rest of the pieces up, "You remember that book I had Ilsoari, I'm trying to get it for our friend Durar here. My imps are having a hard time about it, it is... surprising."

Sense Motive:
Ilsoari honestly does not like you, it's obvious he is not just a cermudgeon. Veznijatsu is hiding something about his imps, he is more nervous then he is making out.

"Yeah, this does seem like a nice enough town to retire to after a career adventuring, who did you run around with? And take up teaching now, what is it you teach the youngsters of Beachpoint?"

Do you know the name of the Adept who taught Worserit? It is always interesting to see the path that knowledges takes through history. To see those forces and emotions which steer it one way or another.

So, Ilsoari, do you play chess? I'd enjoy watching the two of you play, perhaps may be able to even learn something. Maybe Veznijatsu can tell us more about this book he's hinted at to me. It sounds quite interesting." (Turning towards Veznijatsu) "So, when do you think you may be bale to get it?"

Ilsoari puts his hands up, "Whoah youngling, you ask too many damn questions. What are you an inevitable inquisitor? It's like talking with a modron, but less interesting. Of course I play chess, what else would I be doing here with this doddering oaf, I sure don't come here for the conversations."

Veznijatsu snickers and looks to you, "I can't say for sure, thought it'd be coming sooner rather then later, but it may take up to a few weeks I guess. You can watch if you like you may pick up a few things."

Ilsoari harrumphs again, clearly unhappy that you are going to stay, he instead pulls his staff close to him, making it a physical barrier between you and him, perhaps to ward you off.

So after standing and watching th game for a bit (just a little bit), turn again towards Ilsoari "Do you have some particular reason for not liking me, or is it just the general Flannese dislike for Suel coming through?"

Nightgaunt

Ilsoari's eyes darken and his mouth contorts to a sneer as he looks up at you, "It's got nothing to do with Suel or Flannese or Drow for that matter. What I don't like is meddling kids putting their swords and fists in places they don't belong. I don't know why you came to this town, and I don't care. But I wish you and your group would go stick your big pointy sticks and tiny minds somewhere else."

You can hear his staff humming slightly, and you aren't sure but it almost looked like it was twiching. Veznijatsu looks cautiously at the old man and then to you, waiting.

Time slowly ticks by, my eyes focusing on Ilsoari, but flickering to the staff once or twice. Finally after a number of seconds, I breathe out slowly.

"I figured you'd want us to leave, but I'm rather disappointed in being right. I would have expected someone who claims to have been an adventurer to understand that this kinda **** happens. And yes it even happens in your own backyard sometimes. THats part of life. Beachpoint has grown to the point where it is no longer un-noticed, and the same way that you want things, or the mayor wants things, or town council/merchant council (whatever it is) wants things, so do people in other places. And I'm simply here repaying a favor someone did for me.
I personally want to disrupt the town itself as little as possible, but I must admit that unless you willing to stand up and fight for this town then me and my freinds with our pointy sticks are the only thing which is going to keep this town from being destroyed. And yes before you say it like an accusation, We are only doing this because we want something... is that so different than why you adventured yourself?"

Ilsoari looks at you again, his reaction doesn't change, "You know NOTHING child. You understand NOTHING. You simply react, like a beast. You bay and howl like a dog at the mercy of a master. You dance your freedom on the wings of slavery, and you dare accuse me of blindness. Enough." With that last word his staff smashes in to the ground, and a deafening thunderclap can be heard...

The last thing you can remember is the face of the old wizard smirking, Veznijatsu stands up and begins to shout something, but the sound fades first. A moment later your sense of smell and touch. You feel a numbness cover your body, and you find yourself unable to react... A few seconds later the world goes dark...
