A straight classed sorcerer of 6th through 8th level can spend all of their sorcery points to create a spell slot of a higher level than they natively have access to. This seems incredibly inefficient, but it exists.

It's a neat niche benefit for certain upcasting though, for spells like Invisibility where upcasting gives you additional targets suddenly you're covering the whole party with one concentration.
