Calling all DnD knowledge experts....I'm attempting to make a list of information across all sources dealing with poison. No monstrous poison information, just normal use/types/feats/spells/races/etc.

What I have so far.....

This is all I have so far - as people post things, I'll add it to the list. I'd be interested in seeing any homebrew stuff as well, especially with dealing the common problems of poisons (crafting ingredients, etc).

Thanks ahead of time for the help!

Ninja gets poison use I believe, and Book of Exalted Deeds gets "Holy" Poisons. There was also a holy poison user made on the Homebrew forum, I might be able to find it.

EDIT: Found it! (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48031&highlight=poison) it was kinda deep in, so don't post on it please.

Doh! Can't believe I forgot the Ninja....added the holy poisons (good catch there) and the homebrew class.

Anyone know where I can find skill info on finding/extracting poison ingredients from monsters or nature?

The "holy" poisons from BoED are called Ravages and Afflictions.

You might also add classes and/or monsters which are immune to poisons. Of the core classes, Monks and Druids both get immunity (at levels 11 and 9, respectively).

Crystal Keep to the rescue!

Let's see... There's something called a mask of sweet air (Sandstorm) that provides immunity to airborn poison. A Dragon magazine once mentioned black roses face paint, which gives the wearer poisonous thorns.

Also, don't forget about the restorative ointment (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/wondrousItems.htm#restorativeOintment) in the SRD, which can cure poisons (among other things).

For psionics, the PsiWar has two powers that give him a nasty (1d8 Con primary and secondary) poison: truevenom (for claws) and truevenom weapon (for manufactured weapons). There's also prevenom versions of both that deal 2 Con damage primary and nothing secondary (as a side note, augmenting prevenom up to truevenom-level strength gives you 8 Con damage primary!).

SandDemon
2007-11-11, 11:07 PM
I'll probably leave our "curing", there are just way too many out there to make it fit into the style of the list.

I left out the mask just because I can't read it since it's in a Dragon magazine (the feats I can find on realmshelp) :smallconfused:

I'll get reading on the PsiWar, but I usually decided to leave out "poison-like" abilities, since there's quite a few.

Hey! What's that up in the sky? Is it a Bat? Is it an Eagle? Is it a Roc? NO! Its Dragon Compendium to the rescue!!! *insert theme heroic song here*

So, let's see:
As far as sources of poisons Dragon Compendium a bunch: The Toxins of Cerilon originally from DR59
And the Diabolus race originally from DR327 has a natural poison.
There might be more, but I'll need more time to search through it. And I should be writing a paper right now...

Edit: Oh, you do want Dragon stuff? Oh well, you'll have this for future reference I guess.

I can detect the sarcasm....but yeah, I'm staying away from "poison like" or even "poison" spells. I'm talking about using non-spell poison...the spells I'm looking for enhance them like this elusive assassin spell I keep hearing about but never can find.

There's a first level Druid spell in Spell Compendium called Breath of the Jungle. Area affect, saves against poison and disease in the area are at DC+2. No save/no SR, even; it's a Transmutation (you're making the air more poisonous.. or something.)

Make sure to add the Black Dog PrC, from Dragonmarked, to your list. Its a halfling PrC from Eberron that focuses on poison, specificaly ingested posions.

Also, Sharn, City of Towers has a few new poisons there, and Complete Scoundrel has some more. I don't have page references, however.

Arms and Equipment Guide has a whole ton of poisons in it. It's 3.0 but 3.5 (or 3.x or whatever the heck they call it nowadays) compatible with most everything (and the poisons are compatible).

I know the crafting rules, but I'm more interested in knowledge/survival checks to find ingredients in nature, or DC to remove poison from a monster.

AWESOME find, been looking for something like this.

Also a HUGE update to the main post people, I'm going to actually table out all the poisons....yeah, I'm nuts. I've got right now a table of all injury poisons from all sources short of two (falling asleep here). I'll sort them also at some point, probably by Injury DC.

Ok found somthing in an old source book.

Appearance: This emerald-studded book’s electrum
cover is obviously worth a great deal but it’s the informa-
tion inside that is most valuable to those with an interest
in the art of poison. 30 parchment pages detail the recipes
necessary to craft three different fantasy poisons. The
Craft (Poison)* skill is necessary to create these foul poi-
sons.
Spells: None.
Special Features: The Poisoner’s Handbook instructs
someone with Craft (Poison) in the art of creating the fol-
lowing three poisons.
Skull’s Breath: This poison in a whitish powder
ground from the skull on an animated skeleton. The skull
most be ground down within five minutes of the skele-
ton’s destruction. The resulting powder can then be used
to coat the victim’s skin. On contact the skin of the victim
begins to burn and itch but it is only after a minute of time
has passed that the poison’s real damage comes into play.
The victim’s skin begins to decompose at the area of con-
tact, causing one point of damage per round to the victim
for 1d6+6 rounds. Craft DC 15. Save DC 19. 1,200 gp.
Green Rot: Created from a mixture of toxic plants,
green rot is a liquefied poison that must be ingested by the
victim to be harmful. It’s a green, thick liquid with a nat-
ural odor much like that of a damp forest. Green rot eats
away at the body of the victim, slowly killing him from
the inside out. Green rot causes 2d6 Constitution loss on
initial damage and an additional 2d6 Constitution damage
one minute after ingestion. Craft DC 19. Save DC 20.
2,500 gp.
Ninstill’s Curse:Named for the assassin who first cre-
ated it some 500 years ago, Ninstill’s Curse was designed
specifically to weaken clerics.The poison,once crafted,is
kept in two parts until it is ready to be used. The first, a
thin red liquid that looks like watered down blood, is
mixed with the second part that is a thicker, sludge-like
black concoction. Once mixed the poison if effective for
two minutes after which it is rendered useless. The poison
must be ingested by the target or delivered through injury
(most often by coating a bladed weapon with it). When
ingested the initial damage is 1d6 Wisdom loss and sec-
ondary damage is an additional 1d6 Wisdom loss. Injury
damage isn’t as threatening, only 1d3 Wisdom loss for
initial and secondary damage. Craft DC 18. Save DC 20
(ingested), 18 (injury). 500 gp.

it's like from 2d or somthing, but it looks aweful nice, ill continue to look for more.

I'd suggest putting up references for where everything came from. I just see things like "Scholar of Nature" and no reference.

And you might want to take a look at this for your "homebrew" section (It got 5 stars on Regdar's Repository!): http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=751305

Drow of the Underdark has the feat Master of Poisons, which allows you to apply poisons to a weapon as a swift action (it also allows you to use poisons with no chance of poisoning yourself). No Prereqs. http://wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ex/20070430a&page=2

Hmmm...theres a couple of spells in the one Dragon I have that utilize snake venom/create it. More spefically theres a spell (Will post specifics later once I find it) that does 1d4/caster level ( 5d4 max and Ref for half damage) and imparts a penalty on all saves vs. poison (I think it's a -4 penalty which with the PHBII spell gives an effective 'increase' of any given poison's DC of 6...this isn't including crafting the poison yourself and actually GIVING it a higher DC through craftsmanship)

Oh, in the Epic enhancement for BoVD I believe it has Epic Poisons. Need to verify this.

Somewhere on this board I saw a post for "poison compendium" that someone put together on another forum, but now I can't find the post. Help?

I tried doing a search, but even the advanced search feature on this forum doesn't seem to be very useful. It brought up lots of posts which apparently have the words "poison" and "compendium" but just showed the beginning of each post and not actually where the words come up, so I couldn't figure out which post had the link. At least not without opening up and reading through every post, and I figured posting here would be easier and just make more sense.
