What's the easiest way/are the easiest ways to become Fey? For Charming the Arrow, mostly.

Thanks.

I think the prestige classes, Wildrunner and Swanmay do it. Sources are Races of the Wild and Book of Exalted Deeds.

Knew about Wildrunner, cool but not what I'm looking for.

Swanmay seems interesting, but female only?

By the way, this is for a Spellthief/Sorceor/Spellwarp Sniper/Arcane Trickster, so a race would be easier than a really deep class, though a shallow one wouldn't be so bad.

Oh. Killoren. Damn favored classes, is there any way to add a new favored class, or ignore them, or something without breaking rules? Though, I am the DM in this game so if I really want to allow my player to do this, I can... Hrm.

Half-Fey template. It's LA +2 (try and get that bought back if you can).

No buy-back.

What book's it from though?

Sprite, Nixie, and Pixie all have only 1 Hd, and Sprite and Nixie have a +3 LA Pixie has +4. Satyrs have 5HD and +2 LA, not a great choice. None of them are all that great, Fey is a kind of exclusive subtype, sorry.

Half Fey is in the Fiend Folio.

As the DM for your game would one of the UA/D20 SRD Bloodlines like Fey do the trick? Those Bloodlines use differnet rules to pay them off.

Spirit Folk +0 LA from Unapprochable East or Oriental Adventures might do the trick since they speak Common and Fey as per Complete Divine. What is a Spirit for Shamans?

I would just ignore the favored class thing, and the xp penalties for unbalanced multiclasses with it. It's kind of bizarre to start with, and really more flavor than anything else. I don't know why it was attached to a mechanical effect like it was. (Wizards says: We're freeing up the game! You can take a new class easily and whenever! Take as many as you need to present your character! Oh, the XP penalty? Lol. You thought we meant that stuff about multiclassing? Sucker.)

If you have room for it in the build, take the Half-Fey template as two racial class levels. From the WotC site:

http://64.223.12.31/default.asp?x=dnd/sp/20040213a

Although this screws up your caster levels... Charm Person at will and Flight = 2 x speed isn't exactly something to sneeze at.

There are several feats that allow you to add or switch your favored class. However, there's an easier way... use the Magic-Blooded template (LA +0, -2 Wis +2 Cha) from Dragon #306 (or check the 3.0 Templates PDF on Crystalkeep) to switch your favored class to Sorcerer.

Magic-blooded is incredible o_O

But we don't play with Dragon =\

Where can I find said feats? The build is very light on feats, so there's room for some cool stuff.

Well, it appears that class levels really do count for the purpose of HD-based abilities.

Additional Favored Class from Unearthed Arcana gets the job done.

There's quite a few Fey Legacy feats in Complete Mage you would likely be interested in.

Other than that, go Killorean and deal with xp penalties or just ignore (as other's have said) an otherwise silly rule.

It's not clear under those rules, but are you allowed to take the base, 0-LA race without the racial levels?

I know I've seen that somewhere, and IIRC, the answer is no... although that would require that your first level as a Feytouched was in the Feytouched racial class, which upgrades "A feytouched has a +4 racial bonus on saving throws against mind-affecting effects." to complete immunity and renders the basic template's bonus utterly pointless. So that's a point in favor of the racial levels being optional.

Is there really a difference between taking them as racial levels and as a normal template? You don't get HD, feats, skills, or BAB for levels in them...

Yes. http://64.223.12.31/default.asp?x=dnd/sp/20030824a

Characters are not required to complete all the levels of a given template class in uninterrupted succession. For example, a character who takes a level of wereboar could then take a level of fighter and a level of rogue (or any other combination of other class levels) before taking another level of wereboar. A character must still take the first level of wereboar before taking the second, just as with a normal class.

You can always just take the one level. That's all he needs to get the "Fey" type for what is essentially LA +1.

Wait, what? Don't you just pick the 'Feytouched' race at character creation, with the minor powers and 0 LA, and then have the option of taking the Feytouched racial class level when/if you want it, ala the Paragon classes?

Master Player Race List Version 2.0 (http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=697653)

I suggest the Duskling or Killoren.

Also, here are a list of Fey feats (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/fey/20030815a).

Hope these help.

Arcane Schooling is in FRCS and Player's Guide to Faerun:

Additional Favored Class is in UA... might be in the SRD, but I'm not sure where they stuck the sideboxes... maybe the sidebox isn't OGL?
