I don't have access to books right now, but how does Carmendine Monk work?

Does it add to the DC of Stunning Fist? Or just to your monk AC?

That works incredibly with Disciple of the Word, thank you.

Anytime, glad it helped.

It also looks like it'd work well with a few levels of Duellist.

Provided your DM ruled that the Int-to-AC stacked instead of overlapping. (Been over that one, and had it ruled OK.)

While I'm all in favor of checking with the DM about stuff, this isn't house-ruling that it works so much as not house-ruling that it doesn't.

The abilities, Canny Defense and AC Bonus, are two different class features that are based off of a certain ability score. They aren't the same source. As far as the intelligence bonus, you already add multiples of your ability scores in certain situations (strength x 1.5 for two handed weapon use) and there's no reason by RAW it wouldn't work.

Edit: Actually, rereading the canny defense description, the ability actually increases the dexterity modifier of the duelist, rather than adding intelligence to AC directly. So there's no conflict there to begin with.

Now how does one become of member of the Zealots of the Written Word monk order?

Still a good idea to check and make sure the DM isn't going to rule it out :smallwink:

No need for duellist, the main build so far is Monk 2/Swashbuckler 3/Disciple of the Word 10.

Just need another 5 levels, preferably full BAB... Fist of the Forest 3/Fighter 2 would be best, but rather ridiculous, loving words AND nature? Pfft.

A single level of Factotum is nice for Two attacks or saves each encounter as a Free action via Cunning Insight with a positive intelligence 14+ the way IPs recover, sounds like your PC will be Int 16+.

3 ToB class levels could be interesting with a single level of Swordsage, a single level of Warblade and a single level of Crusader might be nice at these level since it would open up some nice maneuver options, some unusual recoveries, along with a decent Initiator level equal to half your other class levels +1 although Crusader and Warblade would get full level credit with each other. Each ToB has at least one Discipline it shares with another ToB base class.
