The same face in the third pannel of 462 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0462.html) is a lot funnier given the context.

I think that's the single funniest moment in the strip.

I found it fairly classic too, yesh. I think it was Xykon's first "I'm boned" moment..

Proof that good comedic timing is irrelevant to time passed.

Yeah, pun intended?
I think it's funny because his face is a skeleton, so you can kind of imagine what his thoughts are. Makes it even more hilarious.

[ sniff ] almost makes you feel for the ol' bag of bones, doesn't it?
I mean, it's a great story, that gets you cheering *both* sides on! :smallwink:

I remember saying something to the effect of "Holy crap!" when I read that strip the first time. I probably had a face similar to his.

Actually, in Start of Darkness...
...he first makes the expression when trapped underground in Lirian's ecologically-sustainable jail cell. He had just been turned into a lich and he goes to pat Redcloak's brother Right-eye on the shoulder. When Right-eye doesn't respond and just falls over, Xykon's eyes go wide.
At which point Redcloak says, "Now would be a good time to discuss your paralyzing touch."
