The Dusk Doom was a terrible conflict that ended what was commonly accounted as either the 9th or 10th age of both Serinbaal and Vesligarn, a set of parallel worlds connected by chronomantic portals. In it's wake, one divergent timeline resulted in the forcible overlap of these worlds -- producing a new 10th or 11th age which represented a complex admixture of its parent worlds. This new planet was known as Rylanaoth, and was marked in all its physical and metaphysical characteristics by the violent combination of two worlds.
Because this junction resulted in the multifarious duplicates of all mortals, flora, and fauna being forced to inhabit a single body, not only, from a mechanical perspective, are all characters gestalt, but all flora, and fauna are some kind of mischwesen. In other words, there are no 'dragons' as such, but rather dragon/bulettes, or shark/squids etc.

Each elemental plane has a series of alignment-oriented variations -- there is a Lawful Neutral, Neutral Good, True Neutral, Neutral Evil, and Chaotic Neutral Plane of Earth, and this cosmological variation applies to all of the various outer dimensions.
Every entity in Rylanatoth is defined by their elemental (chinese or greek elements), planar (astral, ethereal, mirror, positive or negative energy, spirit, dream, temporal, far realm), zodiacal (chinese or greek) and seasonal affiliations (fall, winter, summer, spring).
The only exception to this general pattern for the races of Rylanototh are the only indigenous races - a group of anthropoid mustelid species - anthropomorphic weasels, badgers, otters, ferrets, martens, minks, and wolverines. This group of species are the indigenous and oldest inhabitants of the planet.
