View Full Version : Some Wizard Spells

I'm searching for a pair of wizard spells that create a free willed duplicate of the wizard. I'm told that one is called 'shadow clone' (and quite short lived), while the other (possibly) drastically misspelled is 'silacnicurm'.
Part of the restrictions of the spells, you can only have one clone at a time from the spell, and the clone is a lower level than you. Shadow by 2, and the other by 1.
The good thing about these spells, is that when you duplicate yourself, you duplicate your items(probably can't be taken from the clone without them turning to dust), as well as your spells. So if you only had 2 disintegration spells left before casting shadow clone, you will now have 4, and if the clone exhausts his spells, your own spells are unaffected.

Anyway, if someone could point me in the direction of the right book (and the correct name for the second) I would appreciate it.

Simulacrum. http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/simulacrum.htm

It's permanent, but at half your level, also, I don't believe it Duplicates equipment.

I think this is what you want:

Yeah I saw simulacrum before starting the thread, but the guy who mentioned the spell in the first place specifically mentioned no more than a 3 casterlevel difference for an epic wizard.

Also, while Simulacrum has half HD of the target, I'm not sure if it has the abilities of the original. Either spell like, supernatural, casting etc.

Something as powerful as what you're wanting, it'd be a homebrew epic spell. sorry. It's too powerful even for 9th with an xp cost. It gives you a short term cohort without investing a feat.

Make an Ice Assassin (Frostburn)... of yourself... and pray that its overwhelming desire to kill you doesn't override the fact that it will obey your every command. No level difference, all your abilites, think it still needs its own stuff though.

But does a wizard REALLY need gear?

Seems very powerful to me.
1 level lower = almost double your spellslots and you can let him/her/it go nova since the spells are free anyways.

Now if free will ment,
1. knowing he is doomed anyway (timelimit on spell) to go max hedonism. Teleport to some ladies-of-the-night and snort pixie dust.
2. chance to hate the original and do what he can to mess it up for him.

Not homebrew, actual epic spell:

But it hurts a bit to use.

That'd be the one the OP is wanting then. not just Epic but high (75dc) level epic.

excellent, thank you sweetrein.
Now I just gotta go find that shadowclone spell.
Part of why I'm asking all this, I recently found the book relics and rituals, which gives access to ritual magics. Most of which need 3 spell casters, though a few can use nonspellcasters as a proxy.

You could just Gate in some extraplanar spellcasters. Or something along those lines.

Hmm. You might want to take a look at the Trickery Devotion from Complete Champion:

Not sure it would count as a "caster". Improved Familiar or Leadership could get you a cohort-type companion with spellcasting abilities.

The trickery devotion, I don't think it's quite what I was looking for. More like having a visible butler than anything else.

With the leadership feat, is it possible to get a cohort to breach the epic barrier?

Draconic Cohort (a leadership-esque feat) can do that.

It's not a Wizard spell, but the Wu Gen spell "Body Outside Body" creates duplicates quite easily (without spellcasting ability). Some ways to abuse this are discussed here (http://forums.gleemax.com/wotc_archive/index.php/t-782463.html).

Wu Jen's, I never liked them for flavor, but that spell looks like it would be pretty useful.
Just need an item to give it 2-3 times a day, then throw in use magic device. My eleventh level loremaster can use UMD just as well as our rogue, and actually use high level cleric spells better than the 13th level cleric.
