There's an old, yet still good anime that holds up to modern standards (in story, if not resolution) named Kekkaishi. It features its own little magic system, which basically entirely revolves around barriers. I can emulate that in Spheres of Power, so I am going to.
(Oh, and it's one of the few old anime where the dub is far superior to the sub.)
