Windrider bonus feat: mounted combat?

Greetings playgrounders.

I'm having a moment of confusion about the windrider PrC from Masters of the wild.

one of the entry prerequisites is mounted combat.

one of the bonus feat we can select from it at 3rd level is mounted combat.

Like... just... what? Why would you propose a prerequisite to entry in the list of possible bonus feats granted by the class? bwuh?

Two possibilities, neither of which are great:

(1) It's a WOTC editing screwup, where a PrC has a prereq feat that it gives you later in the class. It's not common, but it does happen now and then across 3.0 and/or 3.5. No sign of an official errata to MoTW, and its FAQ doesn't address the question either.

(2) Masters of the Wild has a rule that if you have an ability which precisely duplicates a feat, you can use that ability to replace a prerequisite. Maybe, possibly, unlikely, they were covering the situation of someone who has Mounted Combat via a class feature or similar but needs the actual feat for some reason?
