View Full Version : [3.5] Looking For Rabbits

So, may be a weird request, but looking for rabbit-like creatures present in 3.5.

As usual, official sources preferred, where possible. Please, no PF or homebrew. In this case, due to the sparsity of creatures, I'm willing to accept Dragon/Dungeon material.

Henegyokai (OA) come in hare varieties.
Julajimus (FF) sometimes assume the form of a rabbit.
Kuldurath (FF) if you squint really hard, kinda maybe

I don't think either of the below got an official 3E update (technically homebrew/3rd party, but based on earlier editions):

Al-Mi'raj (https://web.archive.org/web/20120503061614/http://creaturecatalog.enworld.org/cc/converted/magical_beast/al-mi_raj.htm) (also in Tome of Horrors)
Wolf-in-Sheep's-Clothing (https://web.archive.org/web/20120924124741/http://creaturecatalog.enworld.org/cc/converted/aberration/wolf-in-sheeps-clothing.htm) (also in Tome of Horrors)

Other rabbit related stuff:

Gnomes can speak with burrowing creatures: the list includes rabbits.
Spirit Shaman (CD) Rabbit spirit guide

I think there was a Dragon mag with rabbits as possible familiars?

Any and all help appreciated.

Cheers - T

Hrrrm...no official D&D jackalopes anywhere. And I'm not finding the stats for 'em in my d20 Deadlands books....

Rabbits in Dragon Magazine #341 use the stats of a cat.

Hares in Dragon Magazine #280 have their own stats, but no attacks. They do have Dex 18 however.

Wait, do you mean to tell me that not only can an average house cat defeat an average commoner in deadly combat... so can an average rabbit?!

A group of four rabbits is a deadly threat to a level 1 party?!

Some rabbits can challenge an entire party of armored knights!

Some hengeyokai can transform into hares, or hare-man hybrids.

The Kuldurath (FF) (Rilmani war mount native to the Outlands), is described as being morphologically similar to a giant rabbit, especially with regards to its gait.

Dragon #337 have Magic Face Paints, among which is Leap of the Wild Ones (jackrabbit)

Dragon #342 have "Ki feats" for Ninjas, including Rabbit Prince Jutsu

Fortunes & Winds (Legend of the Five Rings) have Shapeshifter races, one of which is "Usagi (Hare)"

Dragon #48 have Bugs Bunny - as a CG 15th-level Illusionist with Regeneration 5, number of attacks = half of opponent's Int score, and Psionic Ability 300

Not sure if it is in OA, but l5r has the hare clan bushi. Maybe in rokugon campaign setting if that is not stretching too far into 3rd party?

Dragon #60 has the Pooka, which as James Stewart (as Elwood P. Dowd) would tell you, is a 6 ft 3+1⁄2 in (1.92 m) tall white invisible rabbit.

It doesn't say anywhere that rabbits can't use bows and arrows, right? The PCs could get mowed by rabbit arrows before they even get into striking distance.

Beloved of Valarian PrC lists rabbits among the possible results of her Mass Baleful Polymorph capstone

If older editions are OK, then there also were:

Attack rabbit and Large Rabbit - in Encyclopedia Magica, Volume IV

Spiny Rabbit - in Elminster's Ecologies [Cormanthor]

Werelagomorph (Were-hare) - in Dragon #156

And... Duckbunny  (Dragon #243):

Did gammaworld's Hoops ever get written up for 3.5?

Hoops

Now there's a name I've not heard in a long, long time. A long time.

Magic the Gathering has a rabbit race - Soratami from their Kamigawa expansion. There may be a 3.5 conversion out there somewhere.

I have no idea what the source was, but I remember seeing a statblock for Dire Hares as a Dragonlance enemy at some point in the early 2000s.

While not quite 3rd/3.5 Dragon Magazine 243 does does have a Duckbunny. I imagine it shouldn't be too difficult to convert.

Rabbits have claws and STRONG back legs. They can do some damage to people who are holding them. They also have those prominent incisors and can bite if threatened.

It makes sense.

Have you SEEN Watership Down?

Because rabbits are monsters.

They are almost as bad as chickens.
