I think there was a PrC in 3.5 that used a book as a bludgeoning weapon. I do not remember the name and so I am doubting if that really exists. Can anyone help me?

Probably not the answer you are looking for, but Drunken Master presumably could do this.

The Brawler uses anything as a weapon. Apart from that (and of course the wizard), I don't know.

3.0 variant of Exotic Weapon Master PrC has such CF as "Improvised Throwing Weapons", "Improvised Melee Weapons", and "Greater Improvised Weapons"

Also, if the book in question is heavy enough, you can use it with Hulking Hurler

The Codex itself is enormous - supposedly, it requires two strong men to lift it. The covers are fashioned from pure obsidian and its pages crafted of flexible lead.:smallwink:

Finally, the old dirty Explosive Runes trick (supposedly) allows to turn a book into powerful bomb...

Never heard of such a thing, but there's an archetype in PF that uses scrolls as weapons (https://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/wizard/archetypes/paizo-wizard-archetypes/scrollmaster/) ... ?

(I also recall a Gameboy version of Gauntlet that had a character throwing books, but somehow I doubt that's what you're thinking of. :smallwink:)

If a character did this, would a math textbook become a weapon of math instruction?

Likewise if we're talking pathfinder there's the Living Grimoir Inquisitor who's book is treated as a light mace and is used as their weapon of choice. It also contains their spells so better get a bookplate to ensure you don't lose it as well as other backup tricks.

Heathen: What's that? You are going to hit me with a book?!
Zealot: It's the word of my god... it has quite an impact! *smack*

Pathfinder can do the improvised weapon pretty well, especially with Shikigami Style (https://aonprd.com/FeatDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Shikigami%20Style)(along with Mimicry (https://aonprd.com/FeatDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Shikigami%20Mimicry) and Manipulation (https://aonprd.com/FeatDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Shikigami%20Manipulation )), Gloves of Improvised Might (https://aonprd.com/MagicWondrousDisplay.aspx?FinalName=Gloves%20of%20 Improvised%20Might1), and Improvised Weapon Mastery (https://aonprd.com/FeatDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Improvised%20Weapon%20Ma stery). I think someone has a build floating around doing the same thing with a Sledge and Greater Vital Striking for 36d6 or something.

Not to mention classes like Slayer or Medium that add damage to all attacks.

If a character did this, would a math textbook become a weapon of math instruction?Sacred Geometry (https://aonprd.com/FeatDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Sacred%20Geometry) with Arithmancy (https://aonprd.com/FeatDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Arithmancy) on a Path of Numbers spell (Numerological Evocation (https://aonprd.com/SpellDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Numerological%20Evocati on), Calculated Luck (https://aonprd.com/SpellDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Calculated%20Luck), Mathematical Curse (https://aonprd.com/SpellDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Mathematical%20Curse) or Numerological Resistance (https://aonprd.com/SpellDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Numerological%20Resista nce)) and have your GM ask you why you are rolling 50 dice and breaking out the spreadsheets to do 30 damage.

I am reminded that in Ragnarok Online Star Gladiators were flavored as having strapped books to their feet so they could kick things harder and with magic.
