If an awakened horse took levels in Paladin or Valarian's Beloved, what kind of special mount would she be getting anyways? A Special Rider?

Hell, a Centaur Paladin wouldn't need a special Mount either...not that he can really ride one.

The Centaur Paladin's come up before. I think the best solution so far suggested was a Paladin variant or substitution level from some splatbook which grants an ranger-like animal companion rather than a 'warhorse'.

Special Rider. But he has to be named Wilbur.

A magical horsebox of the Gods?

Oddly, nothing in the description of the Paladin's Mount requires that the Paladin actually be able to ride it.

It's just this magic animal that shows up. Make it look just like the Awakened Horse for extra fun.

Page 73 on http://www.crystalkeep.com/d20/rules/DnD3.5Index-Classes-Base.pdf mentions a Chaotic Good Paladin variation called the Avenger who gets a magical bird who can act as a scout rather then a mount, so you could use that instead of a mount.

A paladin horse would get a "special mount", but could use it in.. um... unique ways.

Maybe, but a Valarian's Beloved definitely can't. As soon as the (male) Unicorn is...done...he'll leave and never come back.

You could just use the charging smite variant in PHB II

God, the answer to this question is so simple.

An awakened horse paladin gets a permanently animated horsetrailer as a mount! If high enough level, make the horsetrailer intelligent as well.

Someone needs to include Mr. Ed into their campaign.

+1 for charging smite.
