View Full Version : Are there any way to raise my effective Druid level for AC?

I want a really advanced AC, and I'm willing to gimp my spellcasting to do it. Besides taking the first level of Beastmaster, what else can I do to raise my effective Druid level for determining my AC? Taking Beastmaster will only allow me to bump my druid level up by +3 over taking a level of druid. I want MOOOORE

You could also use Natural Bond from Complete Adventurer. It'll increase you're Druid level by three up to you character level. It might not help you stack it directly, but between that and Beastmaster you can treat an Animal Companion that lowers you're effective druid level by 6 and still keep with just as many boosts as a regular druid with a default mount.

Just to illustrate, while a Druid without either the Beastmaster levels or Natural Bond has a Wolf, a Druid with both can have a Dire Wolf with just as many bonuses.

How is your druid level advancing your AC? Are you using the class AC bonus variant rules or something?

Problem is, I want to increase my druid level dramartically beyond my character level. Right now, as a Druid5/Beastmaster 1, my druid level is 9 in terms of my AC. I want more than that :)

Get a fleshraker, instant +3 cheese bonus to animal companion level, effectively.

... Your animal companion druid level is 9 with a level 6 character.

*brain is broken*

Which expansion is the Beastmaster PrC in, again? I have a halfling outrider whose mount needs beefing up...

Complete Adventurer I believe.

Obviously not my build, but there is always Supermount (http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=382372&page=1)

The first couple posts discuss the build; basically instead of a mount and an AC, you get one ridiculously powerful animal; I think one of them involves you having a 27HD dragon by level 20

Windrider, from 3.0's Keepers of the Wild gives bonus HD, str, and nat armor to any mount you train for 3 days. At later levels, you get free bonus feats for your mount.

Would the Supermount route give me a T-rex by character level 11 or 12? that's basically what I'm looking for.

Ok, this is a bit cheesy but if you take bloodline levels from UA they count as both druid and beastmaster levels for calculating class abiliies. So a Druid 5/ bloodlines 3 and 2/Beastmaster 10 would have a for purposes of calculating an Animal Companion an effective level of 28. Though you only have 15 levels worth of HP.

I need to learn more about how bloodlines work...

Also, would bloodlines advance wildshaping and/or spells?

Information about bloodlines can be found here:
http://www.systemreferencedocuments.org/35/sovelior_sage/unearthedBloodlines.html

They are very weird levels, they don't advance your HD, skill points, or class abilities but they do count for max skill ranks and calculations for class abilities.
