So I have a couple players who want to roleplay in my Strixhaven campaign (once I get the book in November) and they want to play off of the idea of a familiar/caster duo. Personally I was looking at the Fairy race that came out in the Witchlight book and thought it would work very well for the the player who wants to play the role of a Psuedodragon.

Does that seem reasonable?

So mechanically a Fairy race PC but flavored as a pseudodragon? Yes, I'd totally allow that. I'd look at them funny if they wanted to use weapons, but it could be worked out.

Generally, a re-skin or reflavor where the new thing is equal or of lesser power than the original is fine. One where they are getting a mechanical advantage, no.
Given that this removes weapon use, I'd allow it.

I wouldn't be too sure that playing a fairy dragon disqualifies weapon use, considering one of the NPCs you meet in the new module...
