Critfishers-

There’s a bunch of great ways to get crits, but the crit fishing guide on these forums mentioned that Champion Fighter, the easiest way to expand crit range, doesn’t do much extra damage.

What about critting for purposes other than damage?

The text of the half-feat, Crusher:

Increase your Strength or Constitution by 1, to a maximum of 20.

Once per turn, when you hit a creature with an attack that deals bludgeoning damage, you can move it 5 feet to an unoccupied space, provided the target is no more than one size larger than you.

When you score a critical hit that deals bludgeoning damage to a creature, attack rolls against that creature are made with advantage until the start of your next turn.

Couldn’t you build a crit fisher specifically to give advantage to your allies?

Beats Shove for your ranged friends for sure.

The DMG had alternative combat rules on massive damage and some similar effects among others. I think it was under the DM's Workshop section of the book. You could look at that and adapt some of the features for your purposes.

As to a build I think you can. This sounds like though it would make more sense for a Battle Master Fighter or possibly an alternative use to Bardic Inspiration for the more combat subclasses of the Bard (Valor/Swords).

Thanks! I’ll check that out.

How do you mean Battlemaster or combat bard? How would they take advantage of the Crusher feat?

Those were more suggestions if you were homebrewing options what could be used to increase crit hits (Battle Master maneuvers or Bard's Bardic Insperation). Thing to note is in 5e they did away with wildly increased crit ranges like what 3.5 had. Best that can be done with is 19 - 20 with certain class features (Conquest Paladin, Champion Fighter, Hexblade Warlock) along with some items that can do the same. So unless homebrewing something you are quite limited...

However, there are certain was you could raise the chance for more critical hits to occur. One combo in looking at a few things is a Hexblade Warlock / Battlemaster Combination. Hexblade's Curse can grant the critical hit range improvement and combined with the Battle Master's Feinting Attack granting you advantage on the role. This combination effectively gives you two chances to make critical hits. There are probably other combinations that may be better but this is one that just came to mind.

Don't forget throwing in Elven Accuracy, although if you're already getting (triple die) advantage on an attack roll against an enemy, you're probably not going to need to also give your allies advantage on their attack rolls against them.

I had a beast barbarian concept floating around using slasher and shield master to act like a melee debuffer.

If I was going to try it with crusher I would say a shadow monk or a someone with a genie lock dip could effectively get some good mileage out of it.

Wouldn't a regular crit fisher like an half-orc Champion Fighter with, for example, a maul and Crusher fit what OP talked about?
