Golden the Cat

This curious little construct familiar made its appearance in on of the Dragon Mags, but I can't remember which one and my google-fu is failing me.

Can anyone please tell me where its from.


Ps: Was almost asking about Golden the Cart.

Once the Clockwork Cat has chosen to bond with a particular individual, it grants that individual all the benefits of a familiar... it gains all the benefits of a familiar according to its master's level... the individual must possess the ability to cast at least 1st-level Arcane spells and must not already possess a familiar.


I am not seeing any mention that the master must be in a position to acquire a new familiar, which would mean that Golden is available to arcane spellcasters who do not get a familiar for some reason - such as being a Bard, or having traded their regular familiar for an ACF.
Do other readers concur?

Based on the snippet you posted, yes, that sounds correct.
