View Full Version : Finally, a REASON to be a 20th level Rogue!

Master of His Kind: At level 20, a Rogue choses one of the following three abilities/effects.

Skills of a Monkey: A Rogue with this ability has the ability to take 15 in any case that he would normally be able to take 10. Taking 15 is exactly the same as taking 10, consumes the same amount of time, and follows the same rules, except that the Rogue is counted as having rolled a 15 instead. A Rogue with this ability also gains a +5 untyped bonus to all skill checks, and an additional +5 Thematic bonus to Climb, Balance, and Grapple checks.

Mastery of the Vitals: A Rogue with this ability may apply their sneak attack dice to any attack, regardless of the conditions, as long as they roll a 15+ on their attack roll. In addition, Flanking gives a Rogue a +5 to attack instead of a +2.

Concealment of the Shadows: A Rogue with this ability may Hide in Plain Sight, gains a +5 Untyped bonus to Hide checks, may use Darkness as a Spell-Like Ability 3 times per day, and may act under the effects of the spell Etherealness once per week as a spell-like ability.

What do you think? They are a little powerful, but hey, this is 20 levels of Pure Rogue, it has to be good to compare with spell casters at that level.

What other things can we do to get rid of dead levels, especially giving (Actually worthy) Capstones to characters like the Fighter, Bard, and Psychic Warrior?

How about this idea Logman.

Hidden Lethality
You can add +2 to both attack and damage for Sneak Attack for every 5 points your Hide in the Shadows and or Move Silently roles exceed their respective DCs.

Does this look good, or should it just go under rogue Special Abilities?

So...skills of a monkey lets you take 15 on top of a +5 to all skills?

Huh.

Given that "Sneak Attack of Opportunity" is an epic feat - and doesn't do half the things this capstone ability does - I think this is a bit overpowered.

Maybe change it so 20th-level rogues can make any normal attack a sneak attack provided they beat their target's AC by 10 or more?

I think that all this abilities are little too powerful

Rogue 20 anyway can do nothing to compare with spell casters 20. It is probably sad, but it's well known D&D trait.

Sure it will be nice for Rogue to have some reason to go 20, but look at capstones of Ranger/Paladin, for example. They are certainly not so impressive.

A single class shouldn't be upped in power this much so suddenly.
Instead of comparing it to full casters, compare it to every class (as each class should be).
If you are giving the rogue these, what do the other classes get that are also not full casters?
