You speak the truth, that said the idea itself does look like it lends itself well to being a an excellent action comedy on it's own merits so I'll take that bonus.

It's not a parody, just action comedy. It was originally going to have Awkwafina in it but she backed out over schedule conflicts according to Wikipedia. Reminds me of the premise of the not comedy but still action Jet Li movie, The One.
