I fell in love with this class I found about a year ago: https://dnd-5e-homebrew.tumblr.com/post/135733906083/card-master-class-by-jonoman3000/amp . I've play tested it a handful of times. The randomness stretches you out pretty thin. I'd have spells for defense, offense, and situational but end up drawing the situation cards which when I ran into combat were useless. So it was like I was spent before I even started.

I came up with a revision I think works quiet well. I finished it last night so I haven't gotten to test it yet but I'm fishing for opinions. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1rL-EXZXgKhxrkcCedyE7J1X1LQyuMc2hGkCxN3Dzems/edit?usp=sharing

First off, have a link (https://forums.giantitp.com/showthread.php?521278-Preset-Class-Tables-for-5e-Homebrew). That can help you format your class in-thread.

Second off, relying on crits is... Not fun. It shouldn't generally occupy a whole level-Barbarian is guilty of that, and that's bad.

Duplicate Card-can I have two copies of any and every card I put in my deck, or just one single spell card gets a copy?

Heart Of The Cards-is super weak. Unless they're cast at 5th level, in which case, only kinda weak-and that DOES need to be specified.

Card Trick-is really open to abuse, since you can get spells like Passwall or Wall Of Force in that. Bards get a pass because adding +1d12 to a die roll isn't nearly as impactful.

Reckless Spell Attack-too powerful.

Life's Gambit-Neat! I like this.

Tip The Scales-Also neat.

Deal With Death-That's too strong. -7.5 to an attack roll makes it a virtually guaranteed miss, while +7.5 damage isn't that impactful on the off-chance it DOES hit.

Master Of Luck-Looks fine overall.

Buy-In-That's bonkers. A guaranteed failed save is insane.

Overall
It's neat, but... I dunno. Feels like it's lacking something. I'm sorry that the critique isn't more helpful, but... I can't place my finger on why I'm not a fan.

For what it's worth, even with that distaste, with a bit of workshopping, I would allow this in a game I'd run, if the player really wanted it.

Okay, this is super cool and REALLY well presented.

Wait so at 4th level I prepare 6 spells, and roll two dice to determine which of those 6 spells I can cast? And I can do this as an action, but only once per short rest?

I'd love to see more new spells specifically designed for this class. Especially ones who include some redraw, draw from discard pile and other card-game mechanics.
