1) See what the worst first level character is.
2) See what the worst level 20 character is.

Worst at what? "Worst" is a very subjective thing. Worst at combat? Probably a commoner or CW Samurai or something. Worst at skills? It's possible to make a character who gets only 1 skill point per level, and puts them all into Profession (Basketweaving). Worst at not being an elf? Elves lose.

Anyway, the best I can think of off the top of my head:

1. Level 1 Half-Elf Commoner with Skill Focus: Speak Language.

1) Kobold Samurai 1 with the Frail flaw from UA
2) Gray Render Truenamer 5

When I was on a residential course a while back, I was sitting in on a couple of D&D games due to wanting to learn how to play it, and 1 of the 5 people who were playing the game was a Gnome Wizard 3/Rogue 1/Cleric1 in a party which also consisted of a Cleric, Ranger with a Riding Dog companion in Full Plate, Sorcerer and a Barbarian. The "logic" behind taking a level of Cleric was that the full-time Cleric only had a Con of 11 and he was really unlucky with dice rolls to determine HPs. I don't know what spells he typically stored, but he tried summoning a Giant Fire Beetle at 1 point which had no effect on the giant worm-like thing the party was fighting.

Please could you tell me where I can find the stats for the Archer class? I've ever heard of that one (that would definitly be the poorest choice of multi-class combinations ever).

How about turning yourself into a sandwich (http://forums.gleemax.com/showpost.php?p=8570529&postcount=31) (permanent and cannot be dispelled)?

1) Kobold Monk with the Pathetic flaw (-2 Dex)

2) Monk 8 / CW Samurai 8 / Justicar 4 (I think the wizard with INT < 9 works best, but I just wanted to list the classes I hated most)

Are we allowed (for the 20th level build) to buy ourselves cursed items? They do have prices listed. That would make things very easy.

Then there's anti-cheese. Make Pun-Pun but instead of giving yourself all the funky abilities of every monster ever, give yourself the rubbish abilities of every monster ever: a zombie's slowness, an iron golem's rust vulnerability, a wraith's daylight powerlessness, etc.

Artificer 20 with Vow of Poverty has always been a favorite of mine.

Why don't we see who the worst thread starter is?

Maybe Wizard, race: half orc, all points of point buy into wisdom, strength, charisma, dexterity, constitution, intelligence, hopefully having a 6 or less int, all feats in skill focus: speak language, all skill points in profession(courtier), perform(theremin). Then spend all wealth on water clocks. Don't get a familiar, bonus metamagic/craft feats craft crystal weapon, nonlethal spell, sanctum spell (your sanctum is in a lethal area), brew potion. Make sure to sell your spellbook too. For more water clocks. Use unarmed strikes as your attack form.

Nup-Nup (http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=592735) is worse than all of them.

2) Fighter1/Rogue1/Monk1/Wizard1/Sorc1/Bard1/Warlock1/Monk1/ Duskblade1/Warblade1/Druid1/Ranger1/Hexblade1/ Truenamer1/CW Samari1/Spirit Shaman1/Cleric1/Archer1/Swashbuckler1/Paladin1

Depends on how you define a level 20 character but:

2) Elf Expert 1/Aristocrat 1/CW Samurai 1/Fighter 1/Monk 1/Commoner 3

That 100% XP penalty HURTS.

worst level one character: Feral Yuan Ti tainted one half orc level 1 wizard...
start with an intelligence score of 8. Congratulations..you are not at -2 intelligence and in a comma...
worst level 20 character:Feral Yuan Ti tainted one half orc level 20 wizard...
I don't know how you managed to get to level 20 while in a coma...but you're still in a coma...you can go around in battle pretending to be a corpse (very effectively, no need to roll bluff even) and that's about it.Even if someone gives you a +6 tome of intelligence and +6 periapt of intelligence +6 you still have an int score of 10...amazing isn't it?

Doesn't really fit, but I ran a zombie-horror one shot a year or two ago. The character creation rules were as follows:

Elite Array
Level 1 PC class or lvl 3 NPC class
PHB only
Starting gold for level 1

One of the players came in with a level 3 gnome commoner, with skill focus: weaponsmithing, light armor proficiency, wearing hide armor and wielding a gnome hooked hammer. He managed to last several rounds surrounded by zombies. After that character died, he came in with another gnome commoner, this one with power attack and some other feat I don't remember.

He wielded a sickle, and kicked alot of but, partly because he went down, and the party tried to bring him back up with a bag of unidentified magical potions. By the time he finally got a cure, he had most of the potion-deliverable buffs in the game.
