I've got an idea for an item where the concept is that it draws on your body's health to increase your speed, sort of 'overclocking' your physiology. The simpler, but less powerful version of this ability would read
When you roll initiative, you may spend one Hit Die. Add the value of the Hit Die to your initiative result.
While the much more powerful, but also more complicated version would read
When you roll initiative, you may spend one Hit Die. You take a second turn on the initiative value you rolled on the Hit Die.
Which of these seems balanced against the value of a Hit Die, and does the second one seem like too much of a bookkeeping hassle?
