Douglas Nailo had spent a good day doing not much of anything before being introduced to a band of adventurers. While he was an accomplished archer, and often found himself traveling with some group or another to do questionable or unusual things, this particular group was far more interesting than others he’d traveled with. There was a loxodon, a goliath, and two dwarves. They all seemed to be well intentioned with one another, though their homelands must have been vastly different.

Douglas had grown up in his mother’s care in the elven groves and was well educated on the different races of the world. Getting along with them would be easy enough, but their differences were all quite alluring. Loxodon were known to come from temperate plains, and the goliaths from high mountain peaks and the dwarves tended to live deep beneath the earth, yet these three were all traveling together with an obvious singular purpose. When the option to join them came along, his natural wanderlust and curiosity got the better of him, and he immediately volunteered to enter into their ranks.

Traveling together over the next few days was rather boring. There wasn’t much in the way of conversation or excitement, which Douglas found to be boring, but he entertained himself in his own ways. Practicing his marksmanship was his usual way of alleviating boredom, and so he would pluck an arrow through falling leaves, or aim for particular knots in the old trees near them as they traveled and rested.

Douglas had packed plenty of rations for the trip, but he’d long-since grown tired of the taste. Hunting along the well traveled roads was always difficult as the natural beasts in the area would avoid it as a course of reason. Even still he did manage to hunt a couple of jackrabbits out of the wood and shared what meager offerings there were with the rest of the group. It must have been the fresh blood that drew the interest of the orcs. The next day, as they set about their pace, the ambush began.

Damian Falseblood had an open employment with an adventuring party in which he established a name for himself in Phandalin. From time to time he would volunteer his skills to other groups to keep busy, but with a certain purpose. He had recently jumped into the fray when a portal opened in the middle of town and dragged a man through. He hadn't planned to continue with the group but found his group needing to fill some vacancies after on a previous mission he failed to protect his companions completely.

Wouldn't happen again.

He realized the talents of the others he fought along side of after jumping through the portal. Which made his decision easy. Offering an even payout for the quest he and Rebecca had undertaken, the adventures readily accepted. Currently traveling to a forgotten temple he had to find ways of passing time. Drinking. He was drinking. Not alone but definitely more than the others. In all that drinking he got a little loose lipped. Bringing up his past in mixes of jokes and playful insults. How he is trying to atone for his failure decades ago. How he vowed to do what Rambler couldn't. Although he brought them up he would quickly change topics if questioned more.

In between the drinking he would poke at what brought the group together in the first place, because it was quite a unique gathering of people. While the each had their own versions they all had one aspect in common. An intriguing lack of detail. But who was he to question or pry? After all there were things he would rather not put on them after just meeting. He is gonna enjoy getting to know these rambunctious fools.
