For anyone unaware of esoteric realms lore, Jhaamdath is the realms ancient lost civilization of psychics tm. Ran on a theocracy worshiping Auppenser the god of psionics. It’s also where Elan come from. The ones running the show were the Bladelords, who we get almost no information on other than that they used blades, where lordly, and were some kind of cleric psions, either as a multiclass with a specific prestige class (which I know Ed had written but never published anywhere) or some other weird psionic nonsense.

I was looking around for psionics lore the other day for a homebrew project when I realized that this was weirdly missing. Not surprising given how 3.5 treated psionics over all but still interesting. Had anyone ever tried starting this out? My immediate thought is a Theurge PrC but I’d like to see exactly what people think it would, well, do

The prestige class you might be thinking of is Monastic Servant of Auppenser (https://www.candlekeep.com/library/articles/leof_msoa.htm). It centered around the Psionics domain, which would have actually been a pretty solid addition to Lost Empires of Faerun. While I am not exactly super familiar with the Jaamdathan, there is a Timeline included in the same article (https://www.candlekeep.com/library/articles/leof_tjt.htm). If you were to perhaps attempt to build one of these "Bladelords", I'd suggest you keep it simple and instead play as a Psychic Theurge. Depending on the era of play, it would be optimal to simply play a Psion 9 / Ur-Priest 2 / Psychic Theurge 9, however if your DM is willing to allow you to play the Monastic Servant of Auppenser, and you are truly adamant about playing it (it really isn't that good imo) then I suppose you can work out how best to make that work. Presumably, if you were to play one, your weapon of choice (likely a Deep Crystal weapon of some sort or another) would be your "Blade".

Ur-Priest is unfitting due to its various conceptual issues.

Actually a adaptation of Ur-priest mentions worshiping a dead god so that’s actually somewhat fitting

The Bladelords worshipped Auppenser when he was alive, though, so...

Fair, though I mean a modern character following in the tradition. Like the guy that brought it up mentioned it depends on the time period.

I wasn't aware of the Ur-Priest's other possible function. Mea culpa.

Given that they used blades, and are related to psionics surely they’re soulblades of some sort?
