During your adventures you have acquired the services of a humble squire named Podrick. An obedient subordinate and knight aspirant, Podrick slowly but surely improves in standing to match his liege. While not as tactically ostentatious as his other fighter contemporaries who may bear arms, Podrick’s capacity for autonomy combined with his staunch loyalty proves that, in the end, a Podrick in the hand is worth a dozen maneuvers in the bush.

A liege prefers to fight with a trusty squire by their side. While the servile companion is unlikely to surpass the liege's own martial capabilities, and even unlikelier to receive monetary compensation of any form, the liege is quietly glad to have their dependable services sworn in for life.

Faithful Squire
When you choose this archetype at 3rd level, Podrick joins your party.

Martial Instructor
You have redirected some focus onto rearing the next generation of fighters. Starting at 3rd level, when you gain a level in the fighter class, you gain a d6 hit die instead of a d10 and hitpoints equal to 1d6 + your Constitution modifier instead of 1d10 + your Constitution modifier. You can spend time training with Podrick to increase his squire level to a maximum equal to your fighter level. Every 8 hours you spend with Podrick increases his squire level by one.

If your Podrick dies, you can scout for a new one in a settlement during a long rest. This Podrick has a squire level of 3.

Tools: None
Saving Throws: Wisdom
Skills: Animal Handling

Equipment

a) leather and a longsword
b) an explorer's pack

Humble
You have proficiency in Charisma checks made against friendly and neutral creatures.

Second Wind
You have a limited well of stamina that you can draw on to protect yourself from harm. On your turn, you can use a bonus action to regain hitpoints equal to 1d10 + your squire level.

Once you use this feature, you must finish a short or long rest before you can use it again.

Sworn Fealty
Starting at 3rd level, you devote your life, loyalty and faith unto your trustworthy liege. You gain the following benefits:

You no longer gain experience points.
You have advantage on Intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma saving throws that would turn you hostile against your liege.
You cannot willingly leave your liege’s party.
Ability Score Improvement
When you reach 4th level, and again at 6th, 8th, 12th, 14th, 16th, and 19th level, you can increase one ability score of your choice by 2, or you can increase two ability scores of your choice by 1. As normal, you can't increase an ability score above 20 using this feature. You cannot forgo this feature to choose a feat instead.

Well Trained
Starting at 7th level, you have been thoroughly exposed to the duties of a squire. You gain proficiency in medium armor and a proficiency in one of the following skills of your choice: Athletics, History, Perception or Persuasion. Alternatively, you can forgo proficiency in medium armor and gain proficiency in a ranged martial weapon of your choice.

Follow the Lead
Starting at 10th level, you have roughly picked up on some of the tricks of the trade. When your liege uses their Action Surge feature, you can take one action as a reaction, provided you can see or hear them.

Honorary Knighthood
Starting at 15th level, under rigorous instruction you have earned yourself some of the entitlements of a knight. You gain proficiency in medium armor, and a martial melee or ranged weapon of your choice. If you already have proficiency in medium armor, you gain proficiency in heavy armor instead. In addition, you gain a Fighting Style of your choice. You can choose from the following options: Archery, Defense, Dueling, Great Weapon Fighting, Protection, Superior Technique.

Squire of Legend
Starting at 18th level, you have almost become a fighter in your own right. You gain one use of Action Surge and Indomitable.

True Knighthood
At 21st level, you have evolved into a remarkable knight worthy of recognition and independence. You no longer possess the Sworn Fealty feature.

Disclaimer: Podrick is a player character, played by the player whose player character Podrick is sworn to under the Sworn Fealty feature. If there are multiple lieges in a party, only 1 liege can have a Podrick; other lieges must use the generic setting name for squires, which is anything.

Some multiclass combinations you could try:

The Podrick Meatshield build:
Mastermind 13 / Liege 3

Get Mastermind to level 13 for Master of Tactics and Misdirection, also go for Inspiring Leader feat and pick Superior Technique fighting style and Rally. For added tankiness grab Chef too.

Your Podrick synergises well with any rogue to begin with for that perpetual advantage in fights. The weakness is Podrick's 16 hit points at this level - Inspiring Leader can shore up some of that weakness, giving Podrick 21 temporary hp and more than doubling his hit points. If he does get hit you can Rally him as a bonus action giving him an additional 8.5 temporary hit points, + his Second Wind feature for an additional 8.5 hit points. Effectively he can tank 54 hit points in the first encounter of a short rest which should keep him alive long enough to give you advantage when you need it. Include treats from Chef and Podrick's subpar durability lasts a decent amount.

The big kicker is with level 13 Mastermind, you can use Podrick to grant you cover while you use Misdirection to stay in the melee fight for longer as attacks hit Podrick instead. You will barely be taking damage, and because Podricks you regain during a long rest begin at level 3 anyway, there's very little inconvenience even if Podrick does get slain during an encounter.

Lastly, you can advantage Podrick as a bonus action every single round, compensating for his weaker attack rolls at this level of play.

Another Podrick wielding multiclass, but catered towards keeping Podrick, rather than you alive:

Podrick Guardian build:
Ancestral Guardian 6 / Liege 3

You have three ways of protecting Podrick. As a Liege, pick up the Superior Technique fighting style for Bait and Switch. With Ancestral Guardians level 3 feature, enemies you attack will have disadvantage if they try to attack Podrick, on top of Podrick having resistance against that damage type. Spirit Shield also crucially gives you a reaction to further reduce damage Podrick sustains by 2d6. Furthermore, with Bait and Switch you can jack up Podrick's AC for a round if need be. With these features you can ensure that Podrick is taking little to no damage per round and thus his low health pool isn't such an issue.

dnd 5e is capped at level 20.
There is a level 21 class feature.
It looks really odd.
