Undead race help

I trying to remember the name of an undead race that used an evil ritual and oil for the creation process. The undead created could be any alignment and kept original characters intelligence

Pretty sure you're thinking of Necropolitan, from Libris Mortis

Actually it was a different race from necropolitan. They were like a depowered mummy, no mummy rot or fearsome presence. I remember under the alignment section it said that the could be any alignment but we're usually evil because the ritual was so evil most good people would not do it.
