The current arc of one of my campaigns involves cleansing corruption from elemental ley line nodes scattered about. These nodes come in the basic flavors (fire, earth, air, water) and some mixed nodes. The campaign is lower magic items, but not low magic. So I want some rewards from cleansing these, and I thought of giving elemental boons. At first, they'd be limited to one boon (which they could swap for a new one when offered) and get the choice of two from cleansing a node (if there aren't other rewards). The boons would be intended to level with them.

Note: At certain points depending on actions taken in the larger campaign (cleansing the nodes is a major ongoing side quest happening on their time-table), they will likely earn the ability to have more than one boon at a time.


We have the following people:
* Protean (homebrew pseduo-rogue/monk), skirmisher with natural weapons and a few tricks.
* Oath of the Watcher dexadin
* Dragon Knight (homebrew, sort-of beast-master ranger), very tank/melee oriented
* Paracausality wizard (homebrew sub-class, time-based), mostly utility and control.

Very low AoE damage, mostly weapons and melee, although two can do ranged in a pinch (the dragon knight uses a shield, so struggles with ranged)


The first node on their current planned path is an air node (theme--slicing blades of wind)

First set of boon choices


Zephyr Burst
As an action, you send a sharp-edged blade of wind out in a 10 foot wide, 15 foot long line. All creatures in this area must make a Dexterity saving throw against a DC of 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier. On a failed save, targets take 4d6 magical slashing damage or half as much on a success. You can use this boon a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, recovering expended uses at the end of a long rest.

As your level increases, the damage dealt increases as shown [effectively equal to the DMG's recommendation for AoE spells of spell level = level / 2]

Wind Step
As a bonus action, you fly up to half your speed in a straight line. This movement does not provoke attacks of opportunity. You can use this boon a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, regaining expended uses at the end of a long rest.
