The first thing you notice as you descend beneath the earth is the stench of sulfur and the overwhelming heat which sears your lungs and steals your breath. No human could live in such an environment, and its hostility permeates every step you take. Around you, stretching down from the entrance is jagged rock, hewn not by tools but by claws strong enough to shatter steel. The sheer gleaming obsidian that surrounds you is beautiful, in a way, and the veins of molten flame that split the stone like pulsating blood vessels cast the entire area in a shimmering light that is throughly alien from any environment above ground.

Well that's enough description to set the tone I think.

Please set up any and all prep you plan to do to a) 'start the day' (eg. "all day spells") and b) 'prepare to fight' at the start of the dungeon entrance (eg. "1 hour spells")

If people want to make a Nature check I'll reveal chunks of Onyxia's statblock based on the best roll, ditto for the mooks you meet along the way when you get to them.

Megiddo (https://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=2206194)

Maggido casts a couple of spell on himself and then disappears.

"I'm still here."

Then a translucent image of him appears next to the party.

Casts foresiaght, then invisibility, then summons his echo.

Casting Time: 1 minute
Range: Touch
Components: V, S, M (a hummingbird feather)
Duration: 8 hours

You touch a willing creature and bestow a limited ability to see into the immediate future. For the duration, the target can’t be surprised and has advantage on attack rolls, ability checks, and saving throws. Additionally, other creatures have disadvantage on attack rolls against the target for the duration. This spell immediately ends if you cast it again before its duration ends.

Roger the Lucky

Roger stealthily approaches the entrance to the cave, contemplating what he may know about Onyx's capabilities. As they enter the blast furnace that the dragon calls home, he grips his Frostbrand, reassured by the chill emanating from its blade. Knowing that battle is near, he briefly passes the blade across one of the small leather strips fastened to the back of his shield, slicing open a small blister on the leather and coating the blade on the poison within.

He whispers just loudly enough for his voice to carry to the group. "Don't worry, Tymora's on our side, and so am I. Now let's see if we can take this enemy by surprise..."

Nature: [roll0] Reliable talent: My minimum possible roll is 23
Stealth: [roll1] Reliable talent: Minimum possible roll 27
Perception to keep an eye out [roll2] RT, minimum possible 22. Also, blindsense 10'.

Frostbrand is out, granting fire resistance. It slices, it dices, it provides personal air conditioning.

Frostbrand is now coated in one dose of poison.

He then sits in the volcanic ash and starts to meditate for a bunch, summoning a plethora of delicious food items. Before finishing, he attunes himself to his armor, trying to gauge where the next black dragonkin are. If he knows, he transforms into a small lizard and scouts ahead.

Should I try to see if I can find the Broodmother magically? The volcano is alive, it could tell me where she is. This could however show her we are here too?

The revelations of your nature reveal the following statblock sections to you. This is, of course, with noticeable gaps. And don't worry about Onyxia ignoring fire resistance - fire damage will be prevalent elsewhere in the dungeon/fight, it will not go to waste.

Creatures in that area must succeed on a DC26 strength saving or take 2d8+10 bludgeoning damage and be knocked prone. On a successful save, they take half damage and remain standing.

Kuranath consults with the spirits of nature around the volcano. Once he believes they have told him all they can, he opens his eyes and stands. We are almost alone here, but for 3 dragonblooded creatures, grouped together within 300ft east of us in the cavern. I don't know if Onyxia will be among them.

If we can rid the volcano of this scourge, there is silver, and mithral to be mined here. If it isn't too close to the lava flowing beneath us.

If Guff is going ahead as a lizard, I think Kuranath could also cast Beast Sense to see what he sees, in case he gets into trouble. Would that work or could he not target Guff even if he is wildshaped?

Also, great Heroes' Feast buff. Do we each roll for the max hp?

Guff in lizard form takes the lead. Though underground, the smoke and ash in the air blocks vision from more than 60 or 70 feet in front of you. Some 200 feet down the tunnel, the stomp of heavy footfall reaches your lead scout's ears, and at a guess they're anywhere between 80 to 100 feet ahead, barely beyond sight range in the smoky environment. A lizard's skitters won't reach their ears, but footsteps or the clank of armour just might.

Approaching any closer will necessitate a Stealth roll from those other than lizard-Guff. Note that there's no cover to hide behind, so unless you're invisible like Megiddo, you won't be able to breach the 70 foot range mark without being spotted regardless (unless you do something to change that, of course).

Beyond the smokey veil is a chamber, if it can be called as such, roughly 60 feet in diameter. It's less a chamber and more just a wider tunnel though, in truth. Three large hulking black dragonkin - with the four legged body of a dragon attached to the torso of a humanoid - stand roughly 30 feet apart from one another, wicked glaives in hand. They all stand at the ready, eyes on guard, but none seem to acknowledge the invisible sensor, and so they likely lack the ability to perceive it.

May as well drop a map now that you've got eyes on the area. Don't concern yourself with friendly token placement/appearance, they're just there as examples since the fight's not actually being prepped for yet. I'll be sure to change Guff into whatever animal they opt for when the time comes, but while you're still rapid switching not so much :P

The quiet, deathly pale elf, hadn't spoken since the group had started out the day with their feast. Ice crackled as he moved, surrounded by deadly cold. Behind him, two horses followed, one real, the other like it's ephemeral shadow - and yet the elf prefered to sit on a long stick, hovering a few inches above ground.

In response to the request for more information, he flicked his wrist and the small owl obidiently fluttered into the dark tunnel, while the elf kept his eyes closed.

Though clearly taken aback by the viciousness of the sudden assault and the immediate vanishment by way of banishment of its comrades, the drakonid moves to retaliate, unleashing a wave of flame that washes over Wolf-Guff and Kuranath that pushes away the glittering faerie fire, all while slashing at the orc with its massive glaive. The fury with which you bring your strikes down upon the enemy is absolute, and within barely five seconds the beast goes from fighting fit to little more than a splattered mess on the ground, leaving you with the time to set up your next move against the remaining two foes that 'stand' before you - albeit currently on a different plane of existence entirely.

Since the remaining two are banished, in your next post please provide both a Readied action (bearing in mind the appropriate rules re: concentration, etc. for doing so) and a full proper turn to occur after your Readied action.

You've also got time to make whatever movements you care for to get into position before your readied action, but not unlimited time - 48 seconds remain on banishment.

Lanius sent his two horses up to where the northern monster would reappear to block it from moving south immediately, giving the strange echo some company.

He climbed higher on his broom, readying another salvo of energy lances to blast the southern one as soon as it returned - followed by just the same again. If he had learned anything then that it payed to keep your reserves as long as possible.

As described, the two horses are supposed to body block the northern opponent between themselves - phantom steed to the west, summoned warhorse to the south. The warhorse carries barding for AC 18 and can use its attack to trip the enemy. I'm not sure if the phantom steed would do so without a rider to guide it, but in case the GM allows, I'd instruct it to do so too if necessary.

With Roger, Lanius and a particularly vicious set of strikes from Megiddo they lay the southern drakonid low the moment he reappears, preventing him from acting out against you. His comrade is forced to watch (and feel his own set of pain from Kuranath and Guff) as he appears back to reality to two of his allies dead and surrounded on all sides. He unleashes another wave of flame after blasting Kuranath with some clinging fire directly, before slashing at the reckless orc with his glaive. Though wounded and surrounded, he wouldn't go down without a fight, standing tall despite being temporarily pushed prone by one of the horses.

Squeezing you all in around the north guy was harder than you'd think. Easier now though because the horses are gone.

Going down the list, none of your attacks missed and southh guy failed the save vs. Roger's poison, which killed him. The remaining drakonid is 'bloodied' and I fully expect you to finish him off next turn, but who knows, maybe you'll roll nothing but 1's? :P

Remaining guy uses his Flame Lash on Kuranath, and hits for 4 fire damage.
He then uses his Fire Nova for 22 damage against Guff and the warhorse (failed saves), 24 fire damage against Kuranath (failed save+Flame Lash stack), kills the phantom steed and echo knight. It also deals 11 to Roger.

He then hits Kuranath for 13 slashing damage, missing with his other attack despite reckless advantage.

If we have a way to lure the enemies from the other rooms here, I could use Mold Earth to create ramparts for us for cover as well as difficult terrain through the tunnel - slowing down the opponents, giving us time to soften them up from long range.

While you discuss plans and Megiddo scouts ahead, its hundreds of feet through dark tunnels of slow going arcane-eye exploration before eventually they perceive more foes to find - six in the next 'room', if it can be called as such. Two more of the same variety you fought before, and four of a different kind of drakonid. These stand upon two legs rather than four, and hold no weapons in hand. Instead, they are wreathed in perpetual flame.

Probably enough time to sort out post battle recovery. Decide if you're going to camp down and attempt a lure, or push ahead.

Mold Earth doesn't work for excavation on the ground btw, it's stone, not 'loose earth'.

Roger moves east, ducking between the giant elk's legs as he stabs at the northeasternmost draconid, then at the one south of it, in a pair of quick, practiced motions. After that, he tumbles back out of the way, ending up just west of the huge horned herbivore.

As a halfling, he can move through the space of larger creatures, and with Mobile, he doesn't suffer OAs from the two he attacked.

First attack, with frostbrand, poisoned. I don't think he has advantage from anything.
Attack [roll0] for [roll1] magic piercing and [roll2] cold; Con DC 14 or [roll3] poison damage, and poisoned until the end of Roger's next turn.

Though Megiddo attempts to bring their full force to bear, their echo only gains one swing of the blade before the fiery shield leaps out and strikes it, cutting the magic short and dissipating the being. Kuranath, Roger and Guff each manage to land their own blows, though in turn the fire that swaddles the drakonids leaps out to fight back, singing each in turn. When the drakonids do bring their own blasts of flame against the group, the elk (despite its pain) manages to evade, as does Lanius on his broom, but Guff and Kuranath are struck head on, adding burns to burns.

Lanius is in the sky, with diamonds.
Megiddo's Echo hits once for 39, and then 'dies' from the fire shield damage, so no second attack/spell slot expended. Don't believe they could do anything else that turn to get the second attack but do correct me if I'm wrong or missed something!
Kuranath hits twice for full damage on both attacks. He takes 3 and 9 fire damage from the fire shield in turn.
Roger hits twice for full damage, though they make their save vs. Poisoned. He takes 8 and 9 fire damage from the fire shield.
Guff hits once (I rolled pack tactics, didn't change anything) for full damage. Takes 14 fire damage from the fire shield.

The drakonids unleash a number of fire blasts against the party. Two miss (the Elk and Lanius). One hits Guff for 19 fire damage. One hits Kuranath for 7 fire damage.

As always, damage numbers given are before damage reduction/immunities.

Everyone's up again.

You continue to trade blows with the drakonid casters, whose fire shield seems as dangerous as any of their active abilities are. Still, with concentrated fire and concerted effort, Megiddo and Lanius are able to bring down your southernmost foe. Guff, Kuranath and Roger all work together to weaken the remaining three, shaving off chunks of scale-covered flesh all while flame leaps to hinder you in turn. The remaining three turn their blasts on nimble Roger (who evades with little effort), Kuranath and Lanius in the air, hitting the later two for some additional burns.

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/694162563092578364/962076308257517619/unknown.png

All your attacks hit except for Megiddo's first hit and the two Nat 1's from Lanius. I had Megiddo move up in place of their echo, even though their target was dead after their hit. I doubt it will be a detriment all in all.

End result: One dead drakonid, 3 more bloodied (i.e. below half health).

Kuranath takes 13, 15 and 15 fire damage from Fire Shield. Guff takes 11. Roger takes 11 and 16.

They then fire blast hitting Kuranath for 13 fire damage and Lanius for 13 fire damage. They miss Roger with their last blast.

As always, numbers are before resistances applied.

The Drakonids have all failed to recharge Conflagrate at all so far, and it looks like they won't before they die, which is good information. Might up it from 6 to 5-6 after the playtest.

Already weakened the drakonids don't get the opportunity to bring another set of fireblasts to bear as you cut through them with vengeance, Roger dealing a particularly vicious blow to one that beheads it despite the sword not seemingly being large enough to do so - it was magic, probably. Their fiery shields still lash out before they fall, but soon enough you're surrounded by four massive corpses, and the empty space in which your two drakonid foes were banished.

3 days, so moving on.

By surrounding them you've forced the drakonids to fight, not that they seemed all that likely to retreat, and when they return to reality one of them is swiftly cut down in a blitz of damage from the readied party. Bereft of allies and assistance the last remaining foe tries to cut his way through Kuranath further into the lair, blasting him with both scorch and steel. The fire nova washes over your group, but Lanius' protective magical aura ensures that you all evade the worst of the scorching pain. The draconic monstrosity cuts Kuranath with his glaive, but the second swing goes wide.

By piling all your damage onto one target you bring it down before it can attack at all, with Guff's attack going to the remaining target.

Surrounded on all sides the drakonid is unable to retaliate as your weapons and magic cut and slice and blast from all sides - with even the Elk contributing its own strikes to the melee. It roars in pain lashing out with its glaive against the orc in its path with its glaive once more. Its first strike cuts deep, far deeper than it seems to have expected, since it throws off the second strike, and only recovers for a third, but what it gives is far less than it received, and it's clearly on its last legs, barely able to stand after the exertions.

In total you dealt 243 damage to the drakonid that turn.

He retaliates with a crit for 21 and a hit for 18 on Kuranath, who continues to be the prime target due to reckless attack :P

After the end of his turn, the enemy combatant was left with 55 hitpoints, which you guys could burn through pretty easily without any risk of further danger or pain taking, so I'll conclude the fight here. Yeah you might roll nothing but nat 1s but...seems unlikely with all the advantage floating around. The first person to reply can narrate a cool execution if they'd like, but otherwise you should look at recovery/next steps.

Megido (https://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=2206194)

The party simultaneously counterattacks, working with practiced precision to efficiently cut the last drakonid to pieces. It doesn't stand a chance, lashing out futilely one last time before succumbing to the onslaught. It collapses in a pile of flesh and fire, its embers slowly smoldering away as its life drains from its corpse.

After the eruptions and chaos of the brief fight, Megido stands there breathing heavily in the eerily silent cavern. While it is never enjoyable to kill, these were not intelligent, caring creatures. They had only fire and destruction in the their souls, so their deaths are a good thing for the peaceful people of the world.

He explores the room to see if there are any clues or treasures here. As he does, he looks to the others.

"We should push forward, before any other defenses can be set."

He closes his eyes and summons his invisible floating eye, pushing it forward down the northern passageway to look for the next line of defense.

Casts Arcane eye and moves it forward. If it sees anyone, he will try to drop it before it can be noticed.

The arcane eye continues forward a few hundred feet until it sees, and then hits, a wall of thick smoke - too thick to see through at all. Moments after touching it, the spell ends, and repeating the spell sees the same thing occur. The sensor cannot pass beyond. Should Roger touch it though, he finds it permeable and not resistant to touch. Attempting to disperse the blinding swirl is ineffective though, as it's thick enough that any attempts see the gap filled momentarily. Still, it seems to only guard against magical sensors, rather than any physical intrusion - perhaps Onyxia never expected any enemies to make it this far.

Kuranath gazes down the tunnel path, where Megido had focused his magic, A wall of smoke, huh?

I need to rest before we push forward. I can't fight Onyxia without my magic, Megido says. Lanius agrees and begins chanting the beginnings of a new spell.

I think we're further in now than the spirits could reach before. I will try them again. Kuranath sits on the volcanic rock and calls forth the spirits of nature to reveal any new secrets at the other end of the tunnel.

The effort seems to add to the wounds he's already suffered and the orc gives a yawn. He lies back and takes a quick nap as the others prepare.

Kuranath will cast Commune with Nature once again as a ritual. I'm thinking they're more than 300ft into the volcano so there might be more to learn at this range (though the smoke screen probably stops this too). Looking for (1) terrains and bodies of water, (2) prevalent plants, minerals, animals, people and (3) powerful celestials, elementals, fey, fiends, and undead.

Then he'll spend some hit dice at the end of the short rest. I'm going to roll 9 for now and see what that gets me, but I may add more:

CWN: The information is essentially the same as before, though the magma seems to be closer to the surface now. You don't sense any dragonkin anymore. No powerful creatures of the types specified.

I'll puppet Guff unless someone desperately wants to do it instead, so as not to leave the party undermanned for the upcoming fight.

Roger heads ahead first, melding into the smoke that cloys at the lungs, but not enough so as to prevent breathing. Given its hindrance of the Arcane Eye and reformation in the face of attempts to waft it away, it certainly seems magical, and choking those who pass through it likely is not the purpose it serves. The heat seems to intensify with each step, and it's almost blinding as you descend on a mild slope down into the depths. It's only his immensely stealthy aspect that keeps Roger from being spotted as the smoke suddenly fades away to the central cavern. Stood on the edge of the fog, he can see a massive area beneath the earth where the magma veins throb along the ground, the walls, and the crown overhead, bathing you in the yellow-orange light of heat, but without the welcome warmth that the sun offers. The chamber is easily 200 feet across and high, on the far side is your quarry and mistress of this place. Onyxia, the Daughter of Deathwing, lounges casually. She doesn't see Roger, it seems - not yet - but one gleaming yellow eye is nevertheless turned towards the entrance, its black slit iris observing even as she otherwise lounges casually. On either side of the chamber appear to be two smaller areas, containing what looks to be clutches of dragon eggs.

As you emerge from the smoke to begin your attack Onyxia, of course, sees you coming. Any prelude to the fight or getting she might have offered is quashed when she sees Guff in the shape of a white dragon at your side, and instead she chooses not the path of casual mockery but instead casual exhalation. Swifter than any of you, she rears back and with a resounding roar exhales a massive cone of flame that covers half of her lair, scorching all who dare to stand against her. The summoned steeds are overwhelmed immediately, crisping into spiritual ash, and only Roger manages to evade the pain, dodging behind Guff's dragon form to avoid being harmed entirely. "Come forth my brood!" You hear her yell, echoed by high pitched shrieking as eggs to both sides hatch revealing small black dragon whelps that fly on stunted wings towards you, followed not that far away by the thunderous steps of Onyxia who makes her way along the ground towards you with all the malicious glee of a predator.

Pressing a hand against the smoke at your back reveals it's no longer permeable, and though it still swirls as a gas, it is now as hard and unrelenting as stone.

Onyxia somehow beat everyone on initiative. Draconic senses I guess.

She opens by breathing a gout of flame, which hits everyone. Only Roger made his dexsave (I factored in Lanius' aura for everyone), so he somehow avoids all the damage, but everyone else takes 84 fire damage. This bypasses Fire Resistance, and treats Fire Immunity as Fire Resistance. I did not roll Concentration saves, please do so as needed. The damage kills the Warhorse and Phantom Steed, along with Megiddo's Echo.

She then moves 60ft closer, remaining on the ground.

Her Lair Action then activates, summoning 2 whelps from each hatchery, that fly towards the party and Dodge.

I was kinda hoping Onyxia and her Lair Action would be separate, but it is the way it is. Onyxia's get Legendary Actions so I'm going to intersperse these throughout the initiative list as 'set' actions instead of placing them randomly. It's more predictable, maybe, but it's easier on me rather than trying to slip in posts between other people's stuff.

Lanius' eyes narrowed as he could make out the moment in time that would decide if Roger's strike would hit a vulnerable spot or not and gave the probabilities just a bit of a nudge to tip the scales.

Roger's quick lash out manages to catch the fleeing dragon on her claw before she escapes his reach, though Kuranath's strike is repelled by her steely hide as she repositions. She's quickly followed however, and the orc barbarian manages to land on her back and latch on with one hand, somehow finding a purchase despite the rocking and rolling that she does. Lanius' beams, aided by Roger's supernaturally speedy strikes, all find their mark and deal her a grievous blow.

Guff, seemingly distracted by something, snaps to attention and calls forth yet another giant elk to the battle, which charges in on his order, but its antlers fail to make a dent in her scales. Unable to reach the bothersome gnat upon her back, she instead rakes the prone Megiddo with her claws, scooping the tiny humanoid up into her grip and crushing him in place, before lowering her great toothy maw to take a chunk from his shoulder. With her free claw, she swipes instead against the elk that had failed to injure her, tearing magical blood from its enchanted form. When she rears back from her bite she lets out a roar, and a torrent of molten lava pours forth from the ceiling down upon Kuranath, which threatens to burn him up should he not be moved by one of his allies. Onyxia doesn't seem to mind the liquid that now pours over her however - it seems to lack the excessive burn enchantment that her own flames hold.

Split up, the two pairs of whelps move to Guff and Lanius, each one breathing forth a cloud of acrid flames, smoke and cinders. Atop his broom, Lanius is able to waft away the worst of these, but Guff only deflects the first batch, and receives a facefull of scorching pain from the second, temporarily blinding him and searing his throat.

Roger hits on the OA for 51.
Kuranath misses on the OA, but successfully grabs onto her back despite the +18 athletics modifier she has.
Guff moves and summons a Giant Elk (3rd level), which attacks Onyxia and misses.

Onyxia uses her third legendary action to Claw Megiddo, which hits for 23 non-magical slashing damage. He is now Grappled, and Restrained. He can escape the Grapple with a D20 Athletics/Acrobatics check.

On her turn, she then claws the giant elk twice, for 32 total damage.
And bites Megiddo for 16 nonmagical piercing damage and 13 fire damage - this fire damage bypasses resistances, treats immunity as resistance.

Onyxia then uses her Lair Action to call forth a torrent of lava from the roof which pours down upon Kuranath on her back. Unless he is moved before the start of his next turn he will take damage from this.

The whelps rush forward - two to Lanius, two to Guff. Lanius makes his save vs. the breath weapons and takes 2 and 3 fire damage respectively. Guff makes one save (3 fire damage) and fails one for 5 fire damage. Because he failed, he is Blinded, cannot speak or cast spells with Verbal components until the end of his next turn.

One of Megiddo's hits manages to pierce through the scales, though the other one is thrown off by the dragon's implacable grip and it skitters against the black scales to no real damage. It does distract her enough that Roger is again able to slip a blade between her defenses and pierce through to draw blood however, but he earns a swift slash in return from the great wyrm.

Megiddo hits Onyxia with one attack for 27, misses with the other.
Roger hits for 46. She's auto-succeeding on the poison saves because the DC is lower than her CON save.
Onyxia uses 1 Legendary Action to claw Roger in return for 22 nonmagical slashing damage. She banks the other one for later.

At the start of Kuranath's turn, he takes 33 fire damage from the lava plume on his head, due to a failed save. This damage can be resisted by fire resistance, since it's from a Lair Action rather than Onyxia.

Kuranath feels the powerful force of Onyxia's furious roar in his bones, but he stays steady atop the massive dragon. Above him he hears the sound of rumbling and looks up to see part of the ceiling give way above him and a torrent of lava fall directly toward him, Seriously? Atop Onyxia, Kuranath has free reign, seemingly, to grapple the great dragon without fear of reprise - for now at least and the distraction gives Lanius a chance to land blows of his own against the dragon's scaly hide from afar. Half-blind and still coughing from the whelp's assault, Guff assumes to the form of a giant vulture and flies away, skirting close to the ground but avoiding touching in, in case their form is disrupted.

Getting unpleasantly surrounded once more, Onyxia beats her wings again with immense force and takes to the skies, before dropping Megiddo from her claws to collapse down on the ground. Still bearing her unwanted 'passenger' she turns south, taking up a position to better survey the room and unleashes a blast of fireballs from her mouth which strike at Roger, Megiddo and Lanius - the latter of which is then swarmed by the black dragon whelps, though he manages to deflect their attacks and avoid further injury. With the master of the lair off the ground, the rock beneath Roger and Megiddo begins to surge and spurts of lava spew up across the battlefield, though they recede just as quickly. Roger takes the brunt of the pain on the ground, though Megiddo - even battered and bruised as he is - avoids it.

Lanius, as noted, hits for 75 total.
Kuranath misses on one attack and hits with the other two for 31 total.
Guff, blind and unable to speak, uses Wild Shape to turn into a giant vulture and flies away from the whelps. I expect he'll be using a Heal next turn on whoever is most injured.

Onyxia uses her legendary action to Wing Buffet again. Kuranath makes the save and so takes 7 bludgeoning damage before resistances. Megiddo and Roger fail their saves, so take 15 and are knocked prone. It also takes out Guff's Elk, and Megiddo's echo. As part of the Wing Buffet she then takes to the skies (30ft up), moving out of melee with Roger (prompting OA)
She then drops Megiddo from her grapple, and he takes 10 fall damage.

On her turn, in the air, she uses Fireball Swarm, hitting Roger (26), Megiddo (19) and Lanius (17) fire damage (bypasses resistances, treats immunity as resistance).

The whelps swarm Lanius, but they all miss.
Finally, she uses her Lair Action. Bursts of lava spurt up from the ground across the arena (Consave). Megiddo makes his save so takes 5 fire damage, Roger takes 11. This damage can be reduced by resistances/immunity due to it being a Lair Action.

Total damage dealt to Onyxia so far: 338.

Megido (https://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=2206194)

Megido is battered by the onslaught from the dragon, first hit by the wings, then dropped back to the ground, then hit by fireball, and finally caught in erupting lava. But he's still barely alive. And he's close enough to strike back.

He climbs back on his feet, moves closer to Onyxia, summons his echo next to her, and then attacks with all his fury, swinging his sword while the attacks originate from the echo's position.

Foresight is up. Regeneration is up.
I think he took 49 total damage.
Get up. Move closer, BA summon echo 30' in the air, (move it up to 30' closer if needed), then attack, unleash incarnation, action surge, and unleash incarnation with that attack.

Still atop her back, and in her iron grip, Kuranath manages to land only a single blow that strikes true. When Lanius adds his own blasts to the fray, it seems to trigger something in the great wyrm. Her scales seem to crack and crease as molten flame begins to pour from seemingly every crevice on Onyxia's form. She howls as another gout of flame bursts from her throat to engulf Roger, Megiddo and Vulture-Guff, who finds his flightform destroyed as the now-tauren falls back to the hard ground. A new clutch of whelps hatch, swarming towards Guff and Kuranath, though they're unable to pierce past the barbarian's toughened skin.

With an enormous crash, the dragon drops to the ground once more, roaring with fury that shakes the very ceiling apart.

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/694162563092578364/971720866201219092/unknown.png

The grapple-restrain that got moved from Roger to Kuranath cuts off his advantage, but the grapple prevents disadvantage, so attacking normally he hits once for 16.

Lanius does need to use his reaction on a shield, which prevents any of the whelps from hitting him with OAs or their attacks, he then hits for 48, dropping Onyxia to 0. This activates her Mythic Neltharion's Legacy trait (see below).

Onyxia uses her recharged Breath and Tail combo (which hasn't seen much tail use yet, admittedly) to blast Roger, Megiddo and Guff for 70 fire damage (ignores resistance, treats immunity as resistance) - the latter two couldn't make the DC26, and Roger failed the save. This also knocks Guff out of his vulture form and drops him to the ground, for a further 26 bludgeoning damage.

With her Lair Action, she spawns 6 whelps - 3 from each hatchery. 3 dash to Guff. The other three move to Kuranath, and despite having advantage on their attacks, the whelps fail to hit him.

Now that we've hit her Mythic trait, I'm going to share her statblock in full without redactions. You basically knew what she could do by this point anyway:

Neltharion's Legacy. If Onyxia is reduced to zero hit points, her current hit points are instead reset to 450 hit points. She automatically recharges her Breath and Tail Combo, and regains any expended uses of Legendary Resistance. Additionally, she can now use the options in the "Mythic Actions" section for 1 hour. Award the party an additional 105000XP for defeating Onyxia after her Neltharion's Legacy activates.

Flames of Deathwing. Onyxia ignores Resistance to fire damage, and she treats Immunity to fire damage as Resistance instead.

Legendary Resistance (4/Day). If Onyxia fails a saving throw, she can choose to succeed on it instead.
Actions

Multiattack. Onyxia makes one bite attack and two claw attacks.

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +18 to hit, reach 15 ft., one target. Hit: 21 (2d10 + 10) piercing damage plus 13 (2d12) fire damage.

Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +18 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 19 (2d8 + 10) slashing damage. If the target is a Huge or smaller creature, it is grappled (escape DC 20) and is restrained until this grapple ends. Onyxia can have only one creature grappled this way at a time.

Breath and Tail Combo (Recharge 5-6). Onyxia exhales a blast of energy in a 300-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC26 Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, the creature takes 78 (12d12) fire damage. She then whips her tail in a 25ft cone in the opposite side and direction from her breath. Creatures in that area must succeed on a DC26 strength saving or take 2d8+10 bludgeoning damage and be knocked prone. On a successful save, they take half damage and remain standing.

Fireball Swarm. (Phase 2 Only). Onyxia targets 1d4+1 creatures with her fireballs. These are ranged spell attacks with 240ft range and a +16 attack roll modifier. If they hit, the target takes 4d8 fire damage.

Deep Breath. (Phase 2 Only, Recharge 6). Onyxia takes a deep breath and then engulfs a 60ft wide, 60ft tall, 300ft long line in flame. Creatures in the area of effect must succeed on a DC26 dexterity saving throw or take 18d12 fire damage. On a successful save, she takes half damage.
Legendary Actions

Onyxia can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature’s turn. Onyxia regains spent legendary actions at the start of her turn.

Attack. Onyxia makes one Claw attack.

Wing Buffet (Costs 2 Actions). Onyxia beats her wings. Each creature within 30 feet of her must succeed on a DC 26 Strength saving throw or take 17 (2d6 + 10) bludgeoning damage and be knocked prone. Onyxia can then fly up to half her flying speed.

Breath and Tail Combo (Costs 3 Actions). Onyxia recharges her Breath and Tail combo and immediately uses it.
Mythic Actions

If Onyxia's Neltharion's Legacy trait has activated in the last hour, it can use the options below as legendary actions.

Bite. Onyxia makes one Bite attack.

Bellowing Roar (Costs 2 actions). Onyxia unleashes a bellowing roar that strikes fear into the heart of all who hear it. Any hostile creature within 500ft of Onyxia must make a DC26 wisdom saving throw or be Frightened of Onyxia until the end of their next turn. While Frightened from this ability, they must spend their turn using all their actions and movement to move as fast as possible in a randomly determined direction.

Hot spoiler, but she'll be using her next two Legendary Actions on Bellowing Roar, not knowing you're all immune to Frightened due to heroes feast.

In her enhanced state, Onyxia seems more capable at fending off Roger's strikes as the tiny rogue isn't able to pierce through her scales this time. Megiddo has slightly more luck fighting through his echo, cutting her twice. She rears back and unleashes a bellowing roar that seems to shake the very foundations of reality, and would assuredly have struck fear into your hearts were you not buoyed by Guff's feast from before. Instead, the roar is ineffective, and you stand stalwart in the face of the fearsome dragon.

Kuranath manages to keep his grip on the dragon even as the whelps surround him and attack. Their claws do not find purchase. Onyxia lets out a mighty bellow. Kuranath breaks free of her hold and lashes out with the scimitar.

Onyxia's fury is unrestrained as you continue your assaults against her, though she manages to deflect Guff's lightning bolt from dealing all of its damage to her. She swipes twice at Kuranath with her claws as she shakes the earth with her stomps towards the tiny gnome, scooping him up in her massive claw before biting down with her enormous maw alight with flame. The whelps spread across the battlefield continue to nip and bite at Guff, Lanius and Kuranath, though they only manage to injure the former two. The orc's thick skin is too much for their tiny mouths to get a proper purchase on.

Were her bites not enough, she also calls forth yet more lava from the ceiling, this time two plumes - one upon Lanius, and the other upon the captive Roger. Trapped in Onyxia's grasp, the halfling cannot escape the scorching liquid that now washes over him.

Guff casts Call Lightning, Onyxia makes her dex save so takes 21 lightning damage.
Kuranath crits for 31.
Lanius hits over a number of hits for 77.

When Lanius moves away he provokes OAs from the whelps. Two hit - one for 10 piercing and 1 fire (can be resisted), the other crits for 15 piercing and 5 fire.

Onyxia uses her last legendary action of the round to hit Kuranath with a claw for 22 slashing (pre-resistance).
She then moves forward on her turn and claws at Roger, hitting for 22 and grappling/restraining him (DC20 to escape). She then bites him for 24 piercing and 14 fire (can't be resisted/treats immunity as resistance).
Finally, she claws Kuranath again for 17 slashing (pre-resistance), but keeps her grapple on Roger.

On the whelps turn they attack Guff, Kuranath and Lanius.
Lanius is hit once, for 12 piercing and 3 fire (can be resisted)
Guff is hit twice, once for 11 piercing, 3 fire (can be resisted), and again for 8 piercing and 1 fire. - I did not roll concentration on call lightning.
Kuaranath is completely missed, despite them having advantage! Dodgy orc.

Onyxia's Lair Action activates and she calls down two more plumes of magma - one on the restrained Roger and one on Lanius. Since Roger doesn't have time to move, and has disadvantage on dex saves from being restrained, he takes 35 fire damage (can be resisted).
Lanius still has a chance to be moved if Megiddo has a spell to do so before he takes damage from the magma waterfall.

Roger
Roger cries out in pain as he is clawed, scorched, and doused with lava. "Let -" he vanishes, reappearing on Onxyia's face "Go!" He stabs at her once, then leaps up and back, his boots keeping him aloft.

I was briefly worried, then reviewed my options.
Misty Step out of the grapple to right next to Onyxia. Then attack, then, without provoking OAs due to mobile, move Roger's speed (45') up and back.

Megido (https://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=2206194)

Megido somehow avoided getting hit. He continues his attack on the great wyrm. The echo then retreats, trying to provoke an attack from the great dragon.

Foresight is up. Regeneration is up.
Moves to stay 45' away from Onyxia,
Then attacks before moving the echo back out 15'.

All attacks through the echo with triple advantage from foresight and elven accuracy. Damage includes lifedrinker, and great weapon master.

Finally, a crit: so I think it will be 27+31+6+67 = 121 damage. Third attack misses.

Roger's momentary dispersal into mist doesn't stop Onyxia from properly guarding herself against his strike, which rebounds off her claw without dealing any damage. It does leave her open to Megiddo's echo to strike her with a particularly vicious blow though, and when it moves away she swipes at it with one claw, barely catching it, but sufficient to dispel the magic. With a heft of her wings she carries herself forward, ready to unleash hell upon Megiddo for the pain he inflicted on her.

Roger misses, Megiddo knocks another 121 health off.
She swipes the echo, barely hitting it, though she would have killed it with her LA.
Onyxia uses 2 legendary actions on wing buffet to move, dealing 9 damage (post-save, before resistances) to Kuranath.

At the start of Lanius' turn, as they haven't been moved, they take 14 fire damage (before resistances). I'd rolled the save myself and it was better than yours so...

Kuranath's scarred skin turns the claws and fangs of the whelps, and he braces himself against the mighty dragon's wing buffet. Even as he recovers some force knocks Onyxia back and Kuranath stays along for the ride. Once he steadies himself, he continues raining down blows with his scimitar.

Kuranath's grapple on her back continues to tear at her scales and flesh, alongside Lanius' beams, but it's Guff's final lighting strike directly on her head that finishes the beast. With an enormous crash her legs give out from under her, and she falls dead, heaving a great final sigh.

With the death of the broodmother, the whelps immediately begin to flee. Should you chase them, they are easily cut down. Should you leave them, they escape to freedom. The smokey wall that had locked you inside dissipates with the death of the black dragon, and you are victorious.

I'll poll opinions in the OOC thread and not that it really matters, but loot if this were a 'proper' game:

After vanquishing Onyxia, the adventurers are able to loot her hoard for all it's worth. They receive the following:

570,745 gp in coinage, broken down as 38,000 pp, 190,000 gp, 7,000 sp and 4,500 cp
24 gems, worth a total of 18000gp.
A spell scroll of Passwall.
