View Full Version : Did they get rid of sunlight-decay drow magic items in 5e?

Those familiar with older editions of D&D will remember that dark elves had special manufacturing techniques to mass produce magic items in their home realms, due to special radiation in the area. Generic drow soldiers would often be equipped with things like +2 shortswords and +1 chainmail, in addition to their poisons. These special drow items would gradually decay if removed from the radiation environment in which they were made, and would irreversibly disintegrate if exposed to sunlight.

In 5e, I haven't seen references to these types of items in drow statblocks. Is this a thing they just got rid of in 5e?

Edit - I am dumb. This is discussed on MM p. 126.
