Posting homebrew I've been working on. It's a work in progress but I'll keep updating as a go The basic idea is that instead of 20 level classes we have 6 level classes in 5 level tiers where getting at least 5 levels qualifies you for the next tier of classes and each class unlocks 2 classes to choose from to progress into. The right being that the level 6 feature of any class is optional.

Soldier:
Level 1: Weapons training
Level 2: combat manuevers
Level 3: second wind
Level 4: ASI
Level 5: completion exam: extra attack
Level 6: mastery exam: fighting style

Archer:
Level 1: precise attack
Level 2: improved critical
Level 3: keep your distance, precise attack
Level 4: ASI
Level 5: precise attack, completion exam: steady aim
Level 6: mastery exam: point blank shot

Mage:
Level 1: spellcasting
Level 2: arcane recovery
Level 3: magic shielding
Level 4: ASI
Level 5: completion exam: potent spellcasting
Level 6: mastery exam: arcane fighting style

Hedge witch
Level 1: natural magic, familiar
Level 2: invocations
Level 3: focused
Level 4: ASI
Level 5: completion exam: improved disasters
Level 6: mastery exam: damage resistance

Tactician
Level 1: orders, stillness of mind
Level 2: first strike
Level 3: know your enemy
Level 4: ASI
Level 5: completion exam: rapid orders
Level 6: mastery exam: contingency plan
