I'm currently trying to set up a homebrew campaign, and one of my players is rolling up a PC using the Mark of Handling Human for flavor purposes. However, he is playing a martial class, and most of the power budget of dragon marked races come from their expanded spell lists. What is a flavorful but not overtuned feature that could serve as a good replacement?

For reference, he is going to be using the Naturalist Savant (https://reddit.com/r/UnearthedArcana/comments/u6d1k2/laserllamas_savant_class_450_a_brilliant_new/) class made by u/LaserLama on reddit.

For a non-spellcasting-class Mark of Handling Human, how about the following:

Ability Score Increase. Your Wisdom score increases by 2, and one other Ability Score of your choice increases by 1.

Wild Intuition. Whenever you make a Wisdom (Animal Handling) or a Intelligence (Nature) check, you can roll a d4 and add the number rolled to the total ability check.

Speak with Beasts. Through sounds and gestures, you can communicate simple ideas with Beasts. Communication is rudimentary, and the knowledge and awareness of many beasts is limited by their intelligence.

Primal Connection. You have the ability to spend an Action to convince a Beast that you mean it no harm. Using this trait is equivalent to having cast the Animal Friendship spell, but requiring no material components. You can use this trait Proficiency Bonus times per Long Rest. Starting at 3rd level, you can use this trait on Monstrosities as well, provided that the creature's intelligence is 3 or lower.

Friend of the Pack. Starting at 5th level, you can spend an Action to call upon the aid of friendly animals from the surrounding area. Using this trait is equivalent to having cast the Conjure Animals spell, but requiring no somatic components. The DM chooses the specific number and type of beasts that respond to your call for aid, depending on the environment. Once you've used this trait, you can't do so again until you finish a Long Rest. At 9th, 13th, and 17th level, this trait is treated as though the Conjure Animals spell is being upcast into a 5th, 7th, or 9th level slot, respectively.

You could let them cast one or two of the listed spells once per day. They would pick one of the level 2 spells and one of the level 3 spells. Then they could cast the 2nd level one starting at level 3, and the 3rd level one starting at level 5. They can cast them each once, and regain them after they finish a long rest.

Once per day conjure animals would be great but wouldn't break anything.

The dragonmarks (as of this post because could change in the future cause WOTC) only add the spells to the class lists. A preparer still needs to use 'spells prepared slots' and a 'spells known' has to used 'known spells' slots to use them.

Still, I second the idea of Once per long rest either spell. 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, respectively.
