I recall a Faerun material (a crystal, gem, or some other earthen material) that could hold a spell indefinately until crushed. However, I can't seem to find any reference to it. Does anyone know of anything like that?

As an aside, are there any lists of non-weapon/armor exotic materials?

Thank you!

There is the skull talisman that acts as a potion of sort. Any one breaking the skull is subject to the spell inside. There's also the Attune Gem (Magic of Faerun) feat that allows you to store a spell in any gem, then activate it (but you don't break the gem).

And here's a list of materials and other "mundane" ways to improve equipment. Look at the "miscellaneous" section and at the rest of the thread, not everything is in the first post.

Thank you. The one I am thinking of is a naturally occuring material. I seem to recall the ancient Netherese used it from time to time.

I think the Netherese might have had something like that in the 2e book but I don’t recall anything in 3.5
