Now that it's on sale in DND beyond AND convinced myself I can spare the money to get it, I'm wondering if it's actually worth it. Are the chan ges substantial? Good for the game? Any nice examples that will (or wont) sell it? Id appreciate any and all opinions you might have.

I can't speak to whether it's worth it or not but Ludic provides a nice summary of the PC race changes here:

There's been... diagreement (https://forums.giantitp.com/showthread.php?644917-My-least-favorite-thing-about-recent-monster-books-(A-small-rant))... over the changes. My personal stance is that it isn't worth the space it takes on the shelf, much less the paper it's printed on.

I plan to buy just the races to use in the character builder when it is released on dndbeyond, which I expect to be less than $15. (I already have Volo's and the first Mordy book, so I have the original versions of all of the monsters, and am in no hurry to pick up the newer versions of those monsters. I also don't plan to read the copy for fun.)

The changes in that thread came about well before MPMM, see Fizban and Witchlight etc.

It's not bad.

I got it as part of the multipack since I had a friend who needed Xanathar's and another who needed Tasha's.

Probably not unless your playing one of the official adventure league games where it needs "current" content

It has volos and tome of foes monsters in there, with shorter flavor blurbs.
The changes in the stat blocks are.. permutations. often just in visual formatting. The cults are.. kind of in there.
