The wikis I have found mostly mentions the basic types, and I know Eberron isn't quite the kitchen sink of every monster type ever setting that the Forgotten Realms is, so I was wondering... what other, more weird types of dragons are mentioned in the source they appear in as being present in Eberron?

Har har.

Though I suppose as a related question to dragons -- does canon ever imply which species tend to be, uh, xenophiles in that setting?

Sadly none, despite especially gem dragons with their psionic abilities being fitting for Eberron with its wide-spread psionics.

Dragons in Eberron are a bit more likely to take humanoid shape and infiltrate society, on account of the Chamber. The likelihood of a pairing is higher than usual, I would say. On the other hand, there was the whole thing with Vol, where the elven house of Vol was eradicated by an alliance of dragons and elves for the crime of producing a half-dragon. On the third hand, that was during a time when dragons and elves were at war with each other.

Dragons of Eberron has a sidebar about gem dragons on page 109, placing them in Riedra, where they are to dragons as empty vessels are to humans.

So a weird soul thing with something wrong about them?

Empty vessels are humans who have been genetically engineered to be the perfect hosts for quori spirits. See ECS p291.

Right, they're bad at resisting possession. It's on purpose, but still... so these gem dragons are similarly modified against their individual wishes?

I just looked the sidebar up. Apparantly gem dragons don't happen naturally. The Quoris' servants bred metallic dragons, chromatic dragons and fiends with each other until they created this new dragon type, who are especially suitable to being Quori hosts. Like the empty vessels, they are utterly indoctrinated for the most part.

Edit: I wonder... one of the innate abilities of gem dragons is planeshifting to the elemental planes and back. How does this ability manifest in Eberron? Do they have something in that regard at all?
