Starting Wealth for 2nd level

Quick question: I'm creating a back up character for a campaign and our primes are 3rd level.
The back ups are second, and will be "NPCs".
What is the standard starting wealth for a 2nd level character?

Same as level 1 PCs.

The Starting Equipment table (DMG pg. 38) lists 'Starting Equipment' for a 1st to 4th level character as just the same as a 1st level PC.

That said, it does state it's entirely at DM discretion. 100gp each would probably by my upper limit, but alternatively maybe 1-2 healing potions each in place of gold?
