View Full Version : I had a dream (speculation abouot Kraagor)

I mean, it's not a quote. I had a literal dream this night about Kraagor.

(yes. I know. My life is miserable)

So, if my dream is true, I tell you the following:
- Kraagor did not die by the Snarl
- He left for a secluded cottage in snowy mountains, in order to actually find peace, which - given his character class - has been lacking for a long time
- the actual gate is in that cottage
- There is a portal that leads from the Kraagor dungeon to his cottage. Minrah actually sacrificed herself to open it.
- The key of opening/controlling the portal is in a leather bound book whose cover animates accordingly to some tasks that Kraagor had to complete to find his inner peace
- I got waken up by a screaming toddler so no further information is avaiable at the time

Thanks for listening to my rant. I will try to eat less heavy foods next time.

Minrah is implied to be not a virgin.

Minrah is implied to be not a virgin.

You can be sacrified/sacrifice yourself without needing to be a virgin.

Minrah is implied to be not a virgin.

This seems like a non-sequitur.

That one group allows it does not mean that all other groups ever disallow it.

Is she? I don't remember any mention of a past relationship.

These specifically want sexually experienced people for their sacrifices. The victim* being a virgin would be a negative in their eyes.

*Points to myself for etymological use of "victim"!

But also, OP didn't mention or imply that there is some weird ritual sacrifice thing to open the portal? Sacrificing yourself for a goal rarely involves altars and consecrated daggers.

There is none. There is, however, Thor explicitly telling her that some (unspecified) thing she was worried about him not being all right with is totally fine by him and she will not be in any way penalized for it. Whether or not this thing is sexual in nature or not remains ambiguous, but I imagine a lot of people assume it must be since she doesn't want anyone else to know about it.

That having been said, Lien's attempt to get out of being sacrificed by stating that she is not a virgin also starts with her stating that it's an "if." This implies obliquely that she is aware that the orcs may want a virgin sacrifice but do not necessarily want a virgin sacrifice, and by inference we can assume that she is aware of it as a possibility but not a certainty. Which is apparently something that her mother and her discussed before.

Regardless, I do think it's a safe assumption that Minrah is not a virgin, because... well, she's an adult, and while that is by no means absolute it's within the realm of reason to assume that any given adult has been around the block a few times. That having been said, this also has no bearing on her ability to sacrifice herself to accomplish something. People have sacrificed themselves for a purpose repeatedly in this comic, and it's not like Durkon tried to stop Malack from killing him by explaining that he wasn't a virgin.

...although now that I think of it that would have actually been kind of hilarious.

(Also obligatory mention that physical virginity as a concept is kind of nonsense and there's evidence to suggest that a lot of the "virgin sacrifice" stuff had more to do with using something that hadn't been sacrificed before, not actual virginity, but now we're veering far off into the woods.)

I much prefer the "secret gardening hobby" theory, meself.

Yes, her mother telling her that by remaining a virgin she would be less likely to end up sacrificed.

Huh, I thought it had more to do with bull**** notions of physico-spiritual "purity" or a greater "value" (oftentimes literal financial value) assigned by society to virginal women.

The only correct answer is C.

Please don't go on a human hunt, I will have that coolant leak repaired immediately.

As of right now, this theory enjoys my official support and endorsement.

But many trees are flowering plants!

B) A PRETTY FLOWER FROM YOUR SWEETIE

Cut flowers as a type of gift are a special kind of Evil!

Yes, to Futurama. (Is anyone surprised? I know I'm not.)

If you had asked me the odds of this thread about Kraagor's ultimate fate devolving into a discussion of virginity and the ethics of cutting flowers, I would have said "low."

What if we'd asked you if it would devolve into a discussion of Star Wars? Asking for a friend.

Moderate to high, but I'm not going to be the one to derail it there.

I recently referenced Vader in this forum and it didn't trigger a Star Wars discussion. I've never felt more insignificant and unimportant.
