Yeah, so...these are just a few of my sketches that I do during class while I'm supposed to be paying attention to my lesson's...:smalltongue:

Just an random guy in armour, this was done because I wanted to test my abilities at drawing full plate armour. I like the torso portion more than the legs.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v222/Li_Kenta/Armour.jpg

Here's a bard leaning against a wall, I dunno why, but I really like his (relatively) simple attire.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v222/Li_Kenta/Bard.jpg

Just an elven cleric sketch, based off of my first self-made custom avatar.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v222/Li_Kenta/Cleric.jpg

Just a few random comedy sketches featuring Liathos, me elven cleric.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v222/Li_Kenta/Clericjokes.jpg

Just a hippie evoker...kinda sounds like an oxymoron, huh?

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v222/Li_Kenta/Evoker.jpg

One of my favorite character concept's, a Hexblade that chases down violent criminal's and let's them feel his brand of justice. He's also in my sig.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v222/Li_Kenta/Hexblade.jpg

A ranger named Arinol, not related to my Cleric in anyway.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v222/Li_Kenta/RangerArinol.jpg

Another favorite drawing of mine, not sure what class he is, just know he's dual-wielding kickass sickles and that's all that matters.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v222/Li_Kenta/Sickle.jpg

Update: Yeah, i figured I'd give the first post a face lift seeing as this has grown past just the simple notebook doodle.

Ooooo pretty. I like the way the armor is so detailed. My only reservation about it is that its anime-ish, but thats a personal taste thing.

Oooooh, nice art. I wish I could draw...:smallfrown:

On a slightly related note, I've never known this for sure, so, what's the difference between anime and manga?

And with that, I go to sleep. Goodnight, my fellow playgrounders.

:O
I just wish somehow you could make the eyes contain more depth. :(

@Hyperfreak -
Anime = animated versions of manga. (Means something akin to Cartoon in Japanese, I think)
Manga = Comic book type version. Usually read from right to left.

Here's the sketch that inspired the improved version of my avatar, the one I have right now. I consider it crap but one must accept the good (to you guys anyway, I still consider all of my sketches lackluster:smalltongue: ) and the bad.

If there was one thing I could redo with these is redo their feet. I honestly can't draw the bottom of foot for life of me. Even if I had two road maps, a compass, a GPS, tomtom and a Sherpa I would still be at a loss as how to draw them properly.:smallfrown:

Although I'm a rather shoddy artist myself Marlock, I can offer you some advice.
Practice.

Then Practice some more.

Then do some more Practicing.

As you practice, a style will develop, and your artwork will improve. Once you're happy with how it looks, you can post it online, and either get shot down ruthlessly, or have praise heaped upon you!

Speaking of which, Excellent artwork Vulion! Makes a change from only seeing OotS drawings (not that there's anything wrong with OotS style).

Keris is right, practice makes perfect. I've been drawing since I was four, so I know it works. I was drawing picture book by the age of six. Guess the thing I wanna say is that it has to be a passion, you have to really want that image in your head to appear on paper, even if your hands f*ck it up.

I don't think I can teach my style, it just developed on it's own. Through practice and observation.

I hope that helps...

On the third one though, you made the torso too waide, and the proportion is a little off.

But it's still great anime!

You can eather make the body a little thiner, or you can make the arms and head a bit bigger.
You don't have to change it, infact, I think you should leave it for future refrence, it's still good anyway.

When I do some horrible painting, I still keep it so I can see how I've improved, for example I've just done a manga painting, which I've never done before. It's not that great but I'm still gonna keep it if I ever decide to do Manga again.

The other 2 are great as always, keep up the good work!

Why do I do this? Part of it is because I appreciate all of the feedback I get from you guys, both the praise and the constructive criticism. The other part of it is to get my drawings out to other people besides my friend's.

Well anyway, here are me latest drawings from the desk of a college student that should really be paying attention in his math class.

Here's my Hexblade from the first page, just posing for the hell of it:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v222/Li_Kenta/Hexblade-1.jpg

Here's me Hexblade again, this time in studded leather armor. Why? Cause drawing all of those chain links from before is a way to get early carpel tunnel syndrome.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v222/Li_Kenta/HexbladeVer2.jpg

Here's a pair of characters currently floating in my head. The first is a tavern/inn keeper name Eli with an intriguing past, not that I'm going to tell you what so intriguing about it.:smalltongue: The drawing came out a bit more sketchier than I had intended.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v222/Li_Kenta/Eli.jpg

Now this guy went through three redesigns in his armor, personally I like his third one best but I would like hear your opinions.

1.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v222/Li_Kenta/RossVer1.jpg

2.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v222/Li_Kenta/RossVer2.jpg

3.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v222/Li_Kenta/RossVer3.jpg

Now the thing about the two above characters is that the mercenary, who goes by the name of Ross is in debt to Eli. He takes up various odd mercenary jobs to help him pay it off, but always seem to somehow loss the money. The below drawings are some of the antics the pair go through. The first one is when Ross first met the innkeeper, ate a full month's supply of food and then realized he had no money to pay for the meal.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v222/Li_Kenta/Antics2.jpg

This one is just a grouping of random antics between the two.

This one is Ross asking for something from his wizard friend, Royce. Royce, formally the hippie evoker, now the sardonic adjurer is not exactly happy. WARNING: One instance of the naughtiest word of them all.

Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude, he looks freakin' sweet! You got the hair and eye patch down perfectly. The armor looks fantastic, all that it needs is for the color of the metal to be brighter. His armor as I pictured is more silver color.

I give two thumbs way up!

As for the ranseur, it has a straight pointed blade with two blade protrusions on either side at the base, kind of like a T.

This is Royce after a serious magical accident. In my world , wizards use wands and staves as conduits of mana, because channeling through your own body is way too dangerous. If a spell is misscast while being channeled through a wand a messed up spell may discharge the mana inside the wand and it may explode, if the mana is discharge inside, say, someone's arm...yeah. But Royce is a fighter and he won't let it get him down.

While I love Ross's armor, it never really screamed Mercenary, it was way too fancy a thing for a wander merc and former gladiator to wear, so here is Ross version number four. Hopefully this'll be the last change I make to his wardrobe.

Ok. Some comments on the last two posts -
Gnome + coat way too big for him = win.
The Gnome's dad when he's running away reminds me of Dominic Deegan's dad - specifically his hair.
Ross' grandpa seems surprisingly fit for a 137-year-old.
Sweet gun. Sorry to hear that you don't know the backstory - how does that make sense, sans amnesia?
Rand looks awesome.
The "you as a warrior"'s hand looks a little awkward. The fingers seem bent to impossible angles. Same goes for the 2nd-to-last demon.
Gah! It's a sorcerer! With a *gasp* melee weapon! Blasphemy! :smalltongue:
Suggestion for extra adornment of Ross' armor - maybe a strip of leather going diagonally across the front of the armor with a dagger or two stuck in? It might relieve the monotony.
Really awesomely detailed armor description. One piece of advice - Use the carrot! Maybe stick it in with the rest of the daggers... and what's the book next to the carrot?
Looking at the third-to-last and second-to-last sketches, the feet seem a little... off. I think you're gradually moving from thin leg to wide foot, where it should be a more drastic cutoff. Oh, and the feet seem too short.
Everything else is sooooo awesome!

Thanks for the feedback Festy, I shall now address some of your observations.

Ross's Grandpa is surprisingly fit because physically he is a twenty-six year old, he is one hundred thirty-seven chronologically.

As for the hands...yeah, they still need a lot of work, heh heh.

I was thinking about a belt across his chest...the book in question is actually my pathetic attempt at a CD case, namely "Celine Dione's Greatest Hits". That's right, I made a reference to Oots.

The whole foot thing is me still working on this style of drawing, before it was very chibi-ish and the males all had large feet. I'm gonna fix it in all my other drawings in the future.

Once again, thanks for the feedback.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v222/Li_Kenta/SplashPage-1.jpg

I just finished the entires Justice League series (including Unlimited) and it made me want to make a super-hero. So here we go, his name is Discharge a normal man with a special suit that allows him to manipulate electromagnetism!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v222/Li_Kenta/Discharge.jpg

A mage that is really an old black dragon, though I don't go by DnD color coding when I make dragons, so he is a good guy. I'm thinking of naming him Larry or Fred.:smalltongue:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v222/Li_Kenta/DragonMageInitial.jpg

The mage again, with his black dragon gem staff. The crystal at the end of it is actually melted scales off his own body, used as a foci it can channel much more mana at once then a regular magic staff. A lot more.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v222/Li_Kenta/DragonMageRevised.jpg

The thing I about this character is the fact that despite being an old dragon, he is very laid back and energetic. I did this with his personality because in his world dragons are very detached from the affairs of the world. Our dragon mage basically said suck it to his people and he and his mate left to be part of the world and experience it first hand, rather than just observe it from a distance.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v222/Li_Kenta/DragonMageSplash.jpg

A knight in chain mail, cuz he's not a plate mail pansy!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v222/Li_Kenta/KnightRetro.jpg

At the beginning of your career as a wizard, it is a good idea NOT to piss of a very powerful sorceress, or you could end up like this former wizard now cursed scarecrow.

More comments!
Ok, the fighter's bust looks great, but the second one... well, at first I thought that the shield was too small, but then I realized that there wasn't anything marking the top of the shield between his arm and his body. Oh ,and it looks like it might be kinda hard to hold much of anything when part of your hand is covered by your bracers. Otherwise, looks cool. NEXT!
The Half-Elf: Yay Eberron! The hairstyle looks awesome, but the outline of the head sorta detracts from it. Also, the hand seems a little stumpy. Otherwise, good work.
The superhero's pretty damn sweet.
I love the image of the Black Dragon saying, "You don't want me to breath on you right now." But wouldn't that be "Breathe?"
The scarecrow's arms in the last drawing seem to be a weird angles.
That's all for now.

Holy crap! It's been a while, eh? Yeah well, last week was spring break, so instead of sitting in a class and using drawings as a way to stop a boredom fueled rampage across America, i was out socializing with friend's. But fear not, I have returned to school, so my drawings once again wil fill your computer screen.

Onward!

This is Ross again, fairly boring pose, but I think I've finally finished tweaking this design.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v222/Li_Kenta/RossVer43.jpg

Sometimes I just think up crazy organizations and ranking systems whenever I have too much time to think, this is the result of one of those times. Wizard: "Regular" Reasercher. Warmage: Combat/War specialist. Watcher: Duelist/Magic Ninja.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v222/Li_Kenta/Mages.jpg

Just my friend from a comic I am supposed to be drawing. His character is guy with a large psionic crystal stuck in his chest which gives him crazy psychic power.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v222/Li_Kenta/NeoLi.jpg

I love the steampunk genre because it gives fantasy and science fiction a new place to experiment outside of their usual time zones. This guy was just a random character I came up with.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v222/Li_Kenta/Nathaniel.jpg

The thing about Nathan is that he is an albino because of an experiment with a raw mineral composed almost entirely of magic, turning him into a super soldier his country has dubbed as "Phantom's".

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v222/Li_Kenta/Steampunk.jpg

Just Nathan again, shorter coat though. Tried for a mid-eighteenth century look.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v222/Li_Kenta/Nathan.jpg

Action pose with Nathan and a pair of privateer siblings.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v222/Li_Kenta/Actionscene.jpg

Another steampunk person, instead a scientifically enchanced super solider, his a wizard, as his country has a monopoly on arcane knowledge.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v222/Li_Kenta/Bart.jpg

This guy is actually the result of spending an hour trying to find out whether or not a halfing could turn into a werebear. (They can't by the way, damn size restrictions}

People sometimes ask me, "Vulion, you shining example of masculinity, what makes you draw?" and I say to them, the same thing that makes a computer programmer deletes unnecessary data off of a hard drive, to free up space for the important stuff.

Anyway on with the drawings.

Me friends and I did a little quasi-campaign last week cause half of our group was missing from action, these three are the characters were ours. A cookie to whoever guesses who I was.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v222/Li_Kenta/DnDAntics.jpg

I've been meaning to get this up for the longest time, Yeril, the kobold!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v222/Li_Kenta/Yeril.jpg

Way back when I mentioned that the mage Royce, teh guy that gets his arm blown off, had a girl, Madeline. I drew a few times but she felt wrong to me, so I redesigned her, turned her into a trench coat badass.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v222/Li_Kenta/MadelineVer2.jpg

Just an over the shoulder shot of Madeline.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v222/Li_Kenta/MadelineVer2Realism.jpg

I remade Royce ass well, cause he's a guy that doesn't give a rats ass about his appearance and the other version didn't portray that as well in my opinion.

Use a manipulate a line tool over your intire picture to give it a nice, think outline, remove your original scanned image from underneath, and you have a perfect copy.

After that you can colour it all in, that's how I did your picture.

After that you can colour it all in, that's how I did your picture.

Now flee! And make sure you do not fall to the dark hands of inkscape!

Definitely my favorite out of the bunch, she just seems allot calmer and less serial killer'ish then the others.

Where'd you learn anatomy? An art class, a book, the internet, etc?

Edit V- Yes, I'm aware of the entire strangling thing. But if you look, all of them seem to look so serious for one reason or another and shes just dazing. :smalltongue:

I dunno, she fights with a sash, which proably means strangling people, not a nice way to die.

That said they all look awsome.

Observation, looking at other artist's methods for anatomy and about...sixteen years of 'effing it up, sometimes mistakes are the best teachers. I haven't really looked at anatomy books as I have looked at other artist's explanations of anatomy. Feels more personal and more worked out than a book.

She is a lot calmer, though no less willing to fight. None of them are wanton serial killers willing to kill whatever it takes to get their hearts back. They have turned their backs on the evil organization and have decided to find the real Kingdom Hearts. This was done mostly because all of these guys and gals are based off of me and my friend's.

Wow, honestly wow. I never thought my art would get such a great reception. I would also like to thank you as an artist always seeking to improve, cause your coloring has made me realize my lines suck! I must remedy it and your color is an excellent way of me seeing my drawings with out all the excess.

Keep it up!

Oh and as long as you give me due credit it is not plagiarism!

Now I am off to draw some more, cause my classes are done for the day and I'm stuck in the computer lab until my ride finishes his.

Well, scale is a big issue, the hands often seem small in comparison to the rest of the body. The forearm nigh dwarfs them in the pic of Arcanon. Then there's the virtual lack of wrist definition, which is important for distinguishing between an arm and a hand and...one of those toy grabber things, for lack of a better comparison. The fingers are often somewhat misshapen too.

Sorry if this sounds harsh, I am trying to be constructive here.

This special edition of my drawings is called the drawings of yesteryear. A small collection of drawings that I drew in the past, possibly a year or two ago, I can't remember. Why do I bring this to you? Well, I haven't drawn anything lately that would even be worthy of being used as toilet paper by a bugbear, so there. Now, on with the filler.

This is the origin of Nathan's (mister Steampunk Six Shooter) design, back when he was supposed be a dragon in disguise, yadda yadda.
