Hey all,

Does anyone know of a good monster (CR 7 or less), that is focused on bluffing, misinformation, and the like? It can be bad at combat, as well. Just wondering if there is something out there. Thanks!

Doppleganger and Succubus come to mind in core.

Taunting Haunts have +11 to bluff at CR 4 (and 1/day Glibness!), and can force people to say the opposite from what they intend. They're in MM5.

Also Lamia and Annis Hag.

To note is that they are also quite impossible to effectively kill in combat (incorporeal, undead, AND come back after 1 day if destroyed, specifically to go taunt the ones who destroyed it), and know everything about everyone (effectively racial +10 to all Knowledge). I advise to add a clause to how it makes people lie so that they can't correct themselves immediately thereafter on the general subject, and maybe to give it Disguise as an SLA. It already has Ghost Sound, but such a jester should be able to appear as a rich merchant, just for the sheer comique de situation (honestly don't know how to say that in english, don't know if there's a word, but that's how some absurd situation is intrisically funny or ridiculous because something that should not be accepted is. This includes quiproquos and when the public is aware of something that the characters, or some of the characters, aren't. For example, an undead clown dressing up as a noble and being immediately accepted by the party as such because they don't roll Sense Motive on every NPC).

Thanks for the suggestions! That haunting taunt is great.

A good monster that is focused on bluffing, misinformation, and the like? Surprised no one mentioned the DM ... though that would be a higher CR than the question was asking for. :smalltongue:

If you would be OK with CR 8, then "The Horrors of Cormyr" article - in Dragon #299 - includes Glamer.
It's Incorporeal Outsider with no attacks, but a lot of SLA:
Constant - Detect Magic, Rary's Telepathic Bond, Read Magic;
At will - Color Spray, Disguise Self, Ghost Sound, Prestidigitation, Silent Image, Ventriloquism;
3/day - Blur, Displacement, Hypnotic Pattern, Invisibility, Invisibility Sphere, Magic Mouth, Major Image, Minor Image, Mirror Image, Misdirection;
2/day - False Vision, Hallucinatory Terrain, Illusory Wall, Improved Invisibility, Mirage Arcana, Persistent Image, Rainbow Pattern, Seeming;
1/day - Mass Invisibility, Mislead, Permanent Image, Programmed Image, Screen, Veil.
Moreover - 1/hour Glamer can apply effect of Extend Spell or Persistent Spell metamagic to their SLA (if applicable)
Also, Glamers are immune to Illusion spells and effects, but vulnerable to dispels and antimagic (suffer 1d4 x spell's level damage)

I second the succubus. At will Charm Monster and Suggestion make them the ultimate influencers. Also, they are virtually impossible to catch due to at will teleportation.
