In an alternate timeline, one in which Rick from "Rick & Morty" is not in a fascist dystopia, but Rich from "GiantITP" is in a techno-political dystopia, the Quinton poses the greatest threat to Team Evil because it is a metaphor for surveillance capitalism.

Poor RedCloak pick the Freemium version. The "ad-supported-summoning (https://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots1266.html)". Fool. He thought he'd save a fistful of gold tokens in exchange for poorly targeted advertising, but it's worse. You are both the buyer and the end-product now. dah.

As is the case with the Web, the 5 geometric critters are tracking tools. They follows you, they study your actions, and report to a real-time market (the Real Time Bidding) the information they are observing.

And there you are in a totally unsuspecting way, 5 little one-eyed trackers, invisible as any web tracker, are following you. apparent innocent little buttons to mash with lightning, right Xykon? who are instead broadcasting to the entire multiverse your findings. And who will be the highest bidder?

There are actual auctions in which the Arcanaloths, which are the most appropriate metaphor for modern data brokers, study the victims and evaluate weakness. There are hundreds of them, representing any political agenda around the Gate problem. Yes, the Gods tried to kept it secret, but a secret spilled to so many mortals cease quite quickly to stay a secret. And when your job is discerning secrets and exploit mortals. There 5 small unsuspected low ranks modron are the backdoor channel for the worst Advanced Persistent Threat this world ever witnessed.

Did you know that this would not be the first time that surveillance capitalism has been used to defeat "bad guys"? Even the Facebook pixel has been used to detect phishing pages, because the scammers would make an uncritical copy of the victims HTML and Facebook would notice the presence of the same page, but with a suspiciously similar but different domain name (and of course a much more dodgy backend where to send the stolen credentials).

Well, this time the enemies would simply become more complex than Xykon and Redcloak, they are buying every king, every high priest, every wizard tower because that is what corporations do. and OOTS would be harmless because the enemy is now everywhere.

In this timeline, the last faction of the 9, is the unbeatable surveillance capitalism.
