View Full Version : Metamorphosis size/complexity limit?

Suppose a psion wants to manifest Metamorphosis on her psicrystal to turn it into a pavilion tent.

- Can she do this? Does such a shape count as an object (as opposed to, say, a set of multiple objects like ropes, poles, sheets of fabric etc.)?
- Is there a size limit to Metamorphosis? (If not, what stops her from turning said psicrystal into something absurdly large like a moon or something)?
- If she later leaves the presence of the Metamorphosed psicrystal, does it revert or is that only if both she and it had been power targets?
- If she goes more than a mile away so that it no longer has its psicrystal abilities, does that (losing Share Power) impact the already manifested power?

What is your wisdom, Playground folks?

1.) With a skill check.

If you attempt to take the form of a complex object, you must make an appropriate skill check.. If you fail the check, your manifestation of the power does not succeed.

2.) The only size limit appears to be "no smaller than Fine", weirdly. RAW there appears to be no upper limit. I suspect this is at least partially why Pathfinder's version is so much more restricted.

3.) I don't understand the question.

4.) Abilities in D&D typically only care about "targeting" when the spell is being cast. Once cast, unless otherwise stated, the ability persists. Think of it like casting Baleful Polymorph on a person who then runs beyond Close range from you. Does the spell revert even though the person is no longer a "valid target"? No. Same here.
