In Unearthed Arcana (https://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/magic/spellPoints.htm) there is the spellpoints variant system. How are these spellpoints calculated? For example, if I wanted a spellpoint Ur-Priest, Sublime Chord or other spellpoint class, how would the spellpoints be calculated?

Might require a bit of home-brew.

For 10 level classes that go up to being able to cast 9th level spells (the Ur-Priest), something like "As the Cleric table, but use the points for every other level" could work.

So, 1st level Ur-priest has the spell points of a 2nd level cleric, 2nd level Ur-Priest has the spell points of a 4th level cleric, 3rd level Ur-priest has the spell points of 6th level cleric, and so forth.

For the Assassin and the Blackguard, you could use the Paladin/Ranger table, but starting at 11th level. Perhaps a slight boost compared to a regular Assassin or Blackguard, but it captures the theme of only having a small pool, and having some limited degree of casting ability right from the start (though a regular Assassin would need a high spell casting stat and be casting from bonus slots rather than base slots).

It appears to be a heavily ad hoc system. there are some rough trends;
wiz appears to convert slots to points at about 2/3/5/7/9/etc but has a hard cap at gaining 16 points/level no matter how many slots you gain at higher levels.

ranger seems to use 1/3/5/7 conversion

sorc looks to be wiz + a bonus based on the highest level spell slot you have.

I think using the normal level progression is fine. As it's a 9th level caster, it receives a large number of spell points from ability scores and ultimately has a reduced slot progression compared to the base classes. Even using the cleric point progression you end up with 72 base, but with a base 18 +5 from levels and another +1 inherent bonus you would have 130 spell points by level 10.

If you double the progression value then the ur priest would have the casting power of a 20th level cleric by level 15 instead of being less than a 17th level cleric as is the base line. This shouldn't happen unless you want your clerics to become ur-priest for all upsides instead of having some downsides.

Easiest way would just be to do a direct 1:1 spell slot:points required to cast said spell level conversion.

Yeah, definitely second this.

The math *mostly* works out to match this anyway, give or take some bonus points at 1st level, and a few other oddities.
